  1. Update: SOLD

    Hello!

My wife bought me a HiMD player and 10 HiMD 1GB blanks.

After filling them all, I decided i'd rather have a hard disk player, so I returned it.

I already filled all the disks and forgot to reformat them before returning the 600D, so they currently have a whole lot of music on them.

If you are into Queen, every studio album in LP2. Every Styx Album in LP2, Every Journey album in LP2, ever Police Album in LP2, every Sting Album in LP2, and whole lot of Elton John, Billy Joel, etc, etc. (For demonstration purposes only, you should reformat these when you get them..)

Paid $6.99 plus shipping and tax for them... since they have been recorded on, I'll let the lot go for $55. That's quite a deal. They are all less than 1 month old. I'll pick up the shipping (USPS) in the continental US. The items would be shipped from the Dallas, Texas area. If you are in that area, we can arrange pick up, instead.

If you buy the lot, I'll through in 20 Lucir Translucent Blue 74 Min Discs with individual cases/lables for an extra $5.00.

    Paypal preferred.

Please email me at snathanb@yahoo.com You may get an email stating that I have spam blocking on... just ignore it, I'll still get your message!

  2. I'd be happy at this stage if I could even reformat!! Anything I try via the unit's menus (MZ-NH600D) just returns the same 'CANNOT PLAY OR RECORD' message.

I knew I should have bought that 'pod..... mad.gif

Try using Sonic Stage or SimpleBurner to reformat the disc.

I had the exact same thing happen yesterday, when I was trying to copy 1 GB of music all at one time. I got the same message. I even got some error message on the unit while reformatting via SS, but it still worked fine.

  3. $6.99 at radioshack. Not sure if there in stores yet but you can order them (with free shipping if you order in-store).

JandR.com carries them for $6.99. I ordered a few from them before Christmas, when they were offering free shipping (and no tax for me...)

My local Fry's has plenty of them on the shelf for $6.99.

  4. I did quite a bit of ripping and comparing side by side of HiSP, LP2 and HiLP trying to decide what to use on my new HiMD player. After several days of listening in various environments, etc. I decided on LP2.

Unfortunately, Sony doesn't make it easy... The MP3 Bulk convert tool doesn't support LP2, and SimpleBurner will not write LP2 to a HiMD formatted MD.

I was able to bulk convert my whole 5000+ MP3 library to LP2 at once using SonicStage, but it took 24 hours.

  5. I find HiLP too compressed for my tastes and listening environment, so I am still using LP2 for most things. The only thing I use HiLP for is for workout mixes for noisy environments.

Unfortunately, The MP3 bulk convert tool only works for AtracPlus codecs, and SimpleBurner will not let you use LP2 on a HiMD formatted disc.

I did find that in SonicStage, you can switch from Album View to View All tracks, select all, and convert you entirely library to LP2 all in one shot. It took about 24 hours on my PC to convert 5000 songs.
