Asus P4PE bundled SPDIF audio module

I have decided on trying out the SPDIF optical output on my new PC. Whenever I connect my Sony MDS-JE440 to the PC ( via digital optical input),an error message appears declaring ' cannot copy C41',when I press record. Is this due to SCMS, or am I missing out on performing a procedure. I have been surfing the net for a few hours now,without success. Yes,I am a newbie to MP3 to MD recording, so be gentle!
