If you use the AD-20 would this eliminate the need for a battery box? Would you still run line in if you had one? Could you then run your mics into the AD-20 and optical out to the MD? Regards, vp

Hmmm... You did check the recording correct? Try another cable if you have one handy. Can't think of another reason why this would happen. Electronics are so much fun especially when they don't work. Peace, vaporpark

I searched past posts and found one thread that discussed this a bit, but I would love to hear some more experiences on the subject. I am sure SP is optimum but the ease of letting the MD recorder run without tape changes is appealing. What setting do you tapers use and what are your thoughts on the quality from one to the other? Does anyone know of a site that might have mic reviews of different Binaural mics such as: Sound Professionals, Reactive Sound, Stealth Audio, Giant Squid, and Microphone Madness? I am in the US and about to make my first MD purchase. I have a few questions that I am hoping some of you long time users might be able to help me with. :?: 1) Japanes Models - I have been looking at the DR7 and it seems that the only way to buy this model is Japanese models imported to the US or direct from overseas. Is there a drawback to doing this? 2) If I buy a Japanese model and I am in the US, is my warranty so that if I have problems I will have to send the unit back to Japan for service or could it be serviced here in the US? 3) How dependable are MD player/recorders? What is the norm of past use on breakdowns, lemons, etc. Apparently it must not be great because I don't read much about problems, a very appealling factor of this media type. Hi all, I am totally new to MD and I need some help on making my first purchase. I am looking for an MD player/recorder that I can use for various needs like live recording/the gym/and car listening. I am not big on Net MD so that is not really an issue unless someone can redirect that thought. Through my research it seems that the Sharp's are really geared for live recording. Of course the DR7 seems nice but is a little high on price. I found a few good deals such as the MT770 for $229, MT190 for $199, and the DR7 $279. Any suggestions or recommendations from the seasoned members here would be most appreciated. I have not ruled out other brands so feel free. Thanks, Vaporpark
