    Audiobook problem

Thanks. I've just amended the title of the problem track and it appears to have worked. Thanks for that tip.
  2. I 've been trying to upload MP3s of an audiobook to SonicStage in the hope of tranferring it to HI-MD disc afterwards. I've managed to upload all but the final track to SS. When I try to upload it, it keeps saying 'Cannot find music files that are not registered to SonicStage'. Any ideas what I can do?
  3. I was just wondering between SonicStage, Itunes & Windows Media Player which might be best for managing your digital music collection? I know SonicStage is necessary for transferring stuff to & from MD/Hi-MD but aside from that, are Itunes or Windows MP more versatile?
  4. Thanks for the information. As well as your tips, I've also bought a new rechargaeable battery and its working again. Is it OK to leave the battery in the unit when you transferring stuff to SS via USB or running the unit of the mains?
  5. I put the battery into my Hi-MD unit (RH10) today to play it but nothing happened. As I haven't used the battery for quite a while, I decided to recharge it. When I plugged into the mains and press the cancel/chg button, I got a very brief display saying 'charging' and then it disappeared again within a second. I thought the word 'charging' stayed on display until it had fully charged. Has the battery gone wrong?
  6. Ok thanks for that. I was going to buy a track off Itunes but rather than try converting it afterwards, I've decided to buy the MP3 version off 7digital (320kps) so it will play straight way on the Hi-MD. Anyway, the bit-rate for the MP3 appears to be more than the equivalent AAC version(about 256 kbps).
  7. Thanks for that information. Is it also possible to import DRM free AAC files via Sonic Stage and play them on the same disc?
  8. My Hi-MD unit does play MP3s but I was wondering if it was possible to put both ATRAC songs & MP3's on the same disc. Does the disc play normally or would it have trouble going from one format to another on the same disc?
  9. Hi I wanted to download a video podcast the other day (South Bank Show from itv.com)but noticed that the link took me to Itunes. I've never used Itunes and don't have it on my PC as I've never needed it. I use either Sonic Stage or Windows Media Player for audio. Does anyone know if its possible to download the podcast without using installing Itunes?
  10. Hi apologies if this has been asked before. I read that Hi-MDs can't play WMA music that is copy-protected. So does that mean that if I bought a track online, in WMA format it wouldn't play in SS or on a Hi-MD?
  11. In the end, I plugged the unit into the mains with my adaptor (at the moment I use my MDs more at home than on the move)and was able to able to open the lid successfully. Thanks for all your suggestions.
  12. Excuse my ignorance, but which part rests in the dock?
  13. I was transferring several albums to my MZ-RH10 this morning and all seemed to be fine at first. I had even placed a fresh MD in the unit beforehand to record on. Yet after transferring, and disconnecting the equipment, I wanted to doublecheck the length of the disc but the lid of the unit wouldn't open. Apart from trying to force it open (I'm not sure how) does anyone have any tips on how I can open it without damaging the unit?
  14. I noticed in the transfer menu of the screen, you can have 3 options: create an audio CD, create an ATRAC CD, create an MP3 CD. When I download music from Connect, I assume it's in ATRAC format. So if I choose the 'create an audio CD' option, presumably the music would become normal CD format? Is the ATRAC converted to normal CD format in the transfer process? Also, as ATRAC is a compressed format, does that mean that it like a full CD quality track 'squeezed together' that can be restored to its normal size in such a transfer process or does it lose some of the information permanently once it is ATRAC? I'm still a newbie with all this as you can probably tell! Thanks Mjp
  15. I live in the UK. I thought (though I may be wrong) that there was an option when proceeding to download/install Sonic Stage to click your country of residence. Oh well, so I have to do it all over again! Is it possible to do it via the offline option?
  16. I tried doing the system check in Connect on my PC to see that it met the requirements of the Connect store. Most of them it did, except that it couldn't identify my version of SonicStage and that I should download the Connect Europe edition. I only recently downloaded Sonic Stage 3.4 & it took 4 hours (on my dial-up connection). Will I have to do it all over again?

    Connect store

Is the Connect store worth using? I've seen a few bad reviews of it on the forum. I've never used a music download service before but was wondering what are the pros and cons of Connect?
  18. Hi This question doesn't appear to be answered in the tips so I thought I'd ask it. I want to record some stuff from my hi-fi onto my portable my hi-MD. Is it possible to do this via the headphone socket on the hi-fi to the line in on the portable Hi-MD unit recorder. My MZ-RH10 line in indicates optical. Does this mean it will only take an optical line in?
  19. Hi I've just bought this unit, my first portable. When using it in the house on mains power, do I still need to keep the battery in the unit? Sorry if this sounds a stupid question! Thanks Mjp
  20. Thanks very much for that information. Sorry for the dely in replying. I bought the RH10 the other day but have yet to use it properly.
  21. Hi Currently, I have just a standard MD deck at home. However, I'd like to get a portable Hi-MD unit. I've been attracted to a couple in particular, the rh10 & 910. Up to now, I've mainly used MD to record radio programmes but with hi-MD, I would like to compile music compilations for long journeys and possibly record interviews for family history. I will probably also download MP3s more too. Can anyone recommend the above models (or any other) for these purposes? I have three further questions: -With an appropriate cable, can I output the sound from the portable to my tv. - Is it possible to record in standard MD modes as well as Hi-MD modes. - What can the remote control do? Sorry if these questions have been asked before! Thanks Mjp
