Why are the recorings that i make with an analog connection more quite than songs that have been ripped from a cd instance? When i listen to my md player on my speakers (via analog) it is more quite than my mp3's as well. I have a sony MZ-E909.

so no sound is not transmitted through the usb cable?

There isnt any sound coming out of my computer when my unit is plugged into the computer via usb. The unit itself says its playing and so does the software, I just dont hear any sound. Thanks for the help. Regards, Paul

on top of all that digitally recorded tracks carry all of the track information while analog does not, or it does it poorly with some pre-programed program. Paul

cd players that i have used in the passed have expierienced greater battery life with the anti shock off. Another thing to boost battery life is to reduce bass amplification on the unit as much as possible. Hope that helped. Paul

you can just use the head phone jack on your player/recorder. download some software that will record music, im sure you can find it for free online. go from the head phone out jack on your unit to the input for your speakers on your computer and procede to record with the software. One thing about this is that this method will just get you and analog signal, that means to track info, titling, or recording level adjustment. Paul

Check to make sure that no power lines are near or crossing any of your audio connecitons. Could also be the connectors, clean them with a Scotch Bright pad (found at grocery store). Paul -
Someone please help, i will go to great lengths to accomplish this. I want to take my digitally recorded md's and put them on my hard drive digitally with track information. I was looking around minidisco and found 2 things, one was the C03 M-Audion Digital format converter, now this can by-pass the digital copyright protection on a digitally recorded disc, and feed it out on an optical line out, I was told that in doing this that it eliminates track titling and track spaces, so you just get the signal digitally and that is it. The other was the, Sony MDS-JE780 NetMD home deck with optical output, they claim that with its optical output and usb that you can digitally record md's to your hard drive. Minidisco told me that this can only be done with an analog recorded md because this unit cannot overwrite the copyright protection on a digitally recorded disc, so in theroy one would need the C03 and that deck to get a digital copy of a digitally recroded md on your hard drive minus the track info. This to me is unacceptable. I need to take my pre-recorded digitally recorded md's recorded on to my hard drive digitally with the track information. From what I gather most of you guys are trying to accomplish this same feat your selves, maybe now someone can tell us how to do it Someone with more experience PLEASE HELP ME!!! Best Regards, Paul

Lately I was thinking. Why have minidisc? I was thinking about just getting an ipod. With an ipod I wont have to lug around md, or change md at all. You can store over 450 albums. Why keep my minidisc equipment?

Hello, new member to this forum and was looking for some guidance. At my home I have a reciever, md deck, and cd changer with optical out. I make copies of cd's and mixes with the optical link. Next year im going to college and do not want to bring all of my decks. I have a computer that has optical in and outs, RCA, USB, and Firewire. I want a player/recorder by sony. One that will let me make copies of normal cds with only the recorder and the cd drive in my computer (im guessing thats net md?). Something that is portable and has a mic out as well. About 90 percent of the time the unit will sit on top of my computer. It also has to be able to play md's through my PC so that I can use my PC speakers. Thanks for your help. Regards, Paul
