  1. I know there's been posts about this before, and I myself have actually posted about it before, but I figured this warrents a new topic now that I know for certain. The problem is, that when you use synchro record from a digital source with a N910 it doesn't stop recording when the source does, and just continues recording nothing until it is stopped (either automatically after 5 minutes or manually by hitting stop). I got in touch with the place I got mine from (EmpireDirect.co.uk) who - after sending me a replacement model - put me in touch with an engineer. He then got in touch with Sony and relayed to me the message that yes, there is a fault with the units (at least, certainly with all the European ones.) The reason I was given for this is because the "previous model" (the R910 I assume?) didn't have synchro recording, so that caused some problems. Apparently there may or may not (emphasis on the latter) be a fix for the bug in the future which could be done via the USB link. A bit of a bugger really, because it stops you using the whole 79min 59secs of a disc if you have to do TOC edits to get rid of the space on the end when recording from an optical lead. Oh well, at least you can pull it off using a line out. Anyway, I just thought I better post this to try and clear this up. It's still my favourite MD recorder on the market.. even if it doesn't.. umm.. record properly :?
  2. Welllllll I just got my replacement unit, and it has the exact same fault. It does seem like this fault is inherent to all the N910 units... !"£$%^&*() I tried ringing Sony customer support, but they're absolutely usesless. So, I'm awaiting a call-back from Empire Direct to see what they say. I think I may just give up the goat though.. I mean.. even with this fault, it's still probably the best recorder on the market (I mean, it's a N10, but with decent battery life)
  3. Well, I don't know if it's all of them, but you can certainly get it repaired, because it's not working in the way which the manufactor has said (in the instruction booklet it says that the recorder should start and stop in time with the source) so do it. I've just sent mine back, and I'm getting it replaced with another unit, so I'll see how that works out, and post another reply here.
  4. Hey guys, I'm a newbie here, so be gentle please Anyway, when sync recording on my Sony MZ-N910 using the digital in, the unit doesn't stop recording after 3 seconds of no signal (like it's meant to). It looks like it has, the LED flashes, the unit says it's stopped recording, but in actual fact the unit continues recording silence until it is turned off (either automatically or manually). Is this a problem common to all 910 units? Or is it just mine that's messed up? I've had portables before, and the sync record works absolutely fine with my N707 (so I know it's not a problem to do with my setup) but I do know that it's a relatively new unit, so it is quite possible it has a bug. Anyway, any feedback would really be appreciated. Thanks!
