Bump - and we'll see if the photo works this time

Well I've been agonizing awhile over putting my DR-480 up for sale and have finally decided to do so. I originally paid darn near $250 US for this from Team Digital. If I had to give an honest estimate it would be that I've used this unit around 50 hours or so. As I never wanted anything to happen to it I rarely left the house with it, and it was always used while in it's protective pouch. It works perfectly (recording and playback, button functionality, etc) and other than a few specks of dust behind the display window, it is cosmetically like new. Included with the DR-480 will be the following: Charging dock, 4-Pole ear buds (used maybe a few times - very clean), illuminated remote control in like new condition functionally and cosmetically (works perfect), unused RCA lead cable, Sharp AD-N55BT gumstick battery (still holds charge as if it was new), AC adapter with voltage converter module, soft cloth pouch, Sharp branded black belt pouch, and detachable AA battery case. If you are not familiar with this unit I would encourage you to do some research on the internet. The sound quality of this device is superb and arguably the best ever for a MD unit. Well, now to the asking price . . . I am firm on $170 US but will consider reasonable offers. $15 for shipping, if shipping ends up being less I will refund the differance. Maybe someone could e-mail me the items.dll from an earlier version of SS? At t his point it's worth a try.

The video codecs don't give me any options for disabling, just removal. No skins other than winamp, but nothing I would consider 'elaborate'. Other than that I do use themes in Firefox, but again, nothing elaborate. I really appreciate the help you guys are trying to give.

I realy have no interest in formating and reloading XP. Other than SS crashing everything else woks fine. Besides, too many progams would need to be reinstalled. I tried disabling all other codecs except the Sony ATRAC3 codec - this didn't help. Ran sfc and that did not work to resolve the problem. SS still crashing but I did notice that it gets to the loading "UI Components" in the start-up dialog before doing so.

Tried shutting down a bunch of processes but that didn't help. I uninstalled SS CP and uninstalled all other SS related applications as well as deleted the Sony folder in my Program Files folder. I then reinstalled SS CP and still get the same error upon launching the program. Also tried several suggestions from previous post's regarding SS crashes (running MDAC Repair Tool, updating .Net framework, updated DirectX, etc) all to no avail. Looks like I'll need to revert to 3.4 unless someone else has any ideas.

Thanks for the quick reply, A440 I have used most previous versions of SS and have issues before but I can't recall if these were on my current pc. The most recent versions, 3.3 & 3.4 have worked fine. 7 gig of storage available on my HD, No skinning software installed, As far as I can tell, no Nvidia graphics card, Don't know what FFDshow codecs are, No software firwall, just a hardware one in my wireless router. If it helps at all I am running XP Home SP2 on a Dell Inspiron 1150 with 768 MB RAM Thanks again.

I downloaded SS CP and have been trying to get it to work with no sucess. It crashes upon launch everytime and I get the following error message: Omgjbox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. When I click on the link for the details it shows the following info: AppName: omgjbox.exe AppVer: 4.0.0.5080 ModName: items.dll ModVer: 3.7.0.5080 Offset: 000133c7 The same error occurs when I launch the Connect Store icon on my desktop. Any help would be most appreciated.
