Hi, I have this cd that has track marks but is gapless. I then tried to record the whole cd using optical out from my cdplayer straight to my md unit in sp mode. result is 1 track but with audio gaps at each track mark. is there a way for me to record the cd to my md with track marks but when I play back, its gapless? thanks. edwin

ok.. I tried the mute all method, still can't. so i'm gonna use the pause+rec method. at least that will pause the unit before recording starts.

yup, using the optical cable. recording from my pc. i don't think there is that much background noise that it'll tip off the n10 to start recording instantly. the time counter on the n10 starts instantly.

Hi, I just got my new md recorder (n10) and its great. well..i'm still learning it. like how do i get rec sync to work? on my home deck, i would enable it, then it goes into rec mode but paused and waits for sound signal. but on the n10, i enable it. press rec and it starts recording instantly.

I think the main advantage of mp3 players is the fact that they use a common file format with the PC. no need to re-encode to another format or record in real time or anything. if it was reversed. like sony made mp3 recorders/players and the ipod was based on ATRAC, the sony unit will be more popular even if we kept the designs the same now.

Hi, (i'm not trolling) what are the advantages of MD over mp3 players if mostly used just for playing music? sound quality? portability?

this plugin for winamp supposedly does exactly that, I am trying to get it to work properly...but i dont' think it is working for me. and you need winamp 2.91 for it to work (at least for me) give it a try: http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=79370

and if you want some better quality recordings, you should purchase one of those usb to optical units. www.xitel.com

so does that mean, that a md recorded in the new atrac 4.5 typeS will play back on an old old atrac 2 deck and sound the same or it would have worsen sound quality?
