  1. If you consider price of media along with recorder MD is really the only way to go. If motor noise is really a problem, a short cable will get rid of it, and give you better mic placement. Bob
  2. Hi GTR, 1st start just over 10 seconds, second just under 3 seconds. IBM Net Vista 1.5 GHz, 512 ram, no service packs SS 3.4 (shows that it can run without servicepacks), lots of music in the library. Take care, Bob
  3. I don't have the SS dic handy. but I think it is buied in the disc, will try to find disc and let you know. Good morning and luck, Bob
  4. You could try cleaning the lens with a q-tipm but does sound like your ribbon broke. My recommendation, get a new Hi-MD unit, there are some bargains about, you will love the new units. Good morning and good luck, Bob
  5. Lucky dog, you will love them. You can always sell one if you want the RH1, but I will probably keep both of mine, and later on down the road get the RH1. Take care, Bob
  6. Absolutely stunning, will make a great addition to my fleet of NH1'a, everything the RH10 should have been IMHO. can't wait to see one in the flesh, and to read tests. Great job all in finding this info Bob
  7. Incredible, we just keep marching on. Wow Bob

    New Hi MD Model?

How about flash card backup, bluetooth compatible, and a 27 inch screen foldable to put it in your pocket???? Let's be realistic and hope for slightly better ergonomics, an ability to upload net-MD trough the HI-MD unit, and decent advertising to let the world know what we have. Bob
  9. If you can afford it get the NH1, nothing else comes close. RH10 looks nice, but to me looks clunky next to the NH1, OLED is nice though. Let your conscience be your guide, Happy hunting, Bob
  10. Why even bother with wma, just use SS, if you are haveing a problem importing a wma setlist try burning a cd and use simpleburner to get it to MD. Good luck, Bob

    USB Net Cable

what exact model do you have? As far as I know, if it has a USB cable, and is not a NH1. Or N10, it can use a normal USB cable. Good luck, Bob
  12. Get it, Battry life is a non-issue dreampt up by people who don't have one. If ten to fifteen hours of payback, or a ggod night's recording aren't enough, you can get another battery. I have two working NH1's and one paperweight, and if I could I'd get another. Good luck, Bob
  13. Are you completely sure it's all SS's fault, and not a conflict with something else? What are you running? There have been system incompatabilities, and you can find them in the forum. Good luck with your issues, but I don't think it is all SS. Bob
  14. What kind of unit do you have, and does the file still work in MD?? Good luck, Bob
  15. I'm sure I remeber seeing minidisc players in Fry's when I was there a couple of years ago, worth a try, I think Best Buy also had them Good luck, Bob
  16. You need to set your priorities. Remember MP3 is NOT a fidelity format, but a space saving format, wheras MD is a fidelity format, especially with PCM or high rate recording. Also remember cost of media, MD + low cost, flash cards = high cost.. Finally size. md's are small, try alternatives if you must, but if you haven't gone to Hi-MD yet you are doing yourself a disservice. Good luck, Bob
  17. There are remote recommendations in the archives, but go with the RM40 if you can find one. Welcome Bob
  18. At the very least you will need the cradle, and a universal a/c adapter configured to the voltage you will be using, or get a pile of batteries and charge them before you go on hoiliday. Much cheaper for the a/c adapter, doesn't take up that much room Bob
  19. Interesting link http://www.canada.com/edmontonjournal/news...563e1b8&k=92176 Good realities on different "Free" sites on when your music device or your hard drive dies with all your songs. Bob
  20. easiest way is to make a recording of the same song in both modes ( and all the others if you have SS 3.4 and a HI-MD) and listen with good heapdhones. Due to the nature of the two, it will be impossible for Hi LP to sound as good, but for non critical recorsings, or playback in a noisy environment it may suffice. Again, your ears are the best judge, try it yourself. BTW welcome to the comminity, what do you have?? Bob
  21. Hi There, You can check in classified on the forum, fraesus had some out of Australia, and may still have some, was good to deal with. PM him and see what happens. You can also try the ebay route, but be careful what you get, I got one and it quit a couple of weeks after I got it, cost $110 to get fixed. They are a great machine though. Good luck, Bob

    Hi-MD Player

minidiscccanada had some of the Australian units a while ago, sure they are online, but!!!. If you are close enough, you can try future shop or Radio Shack, saw some there last time I was in Edmonton. Good luck, Bob
