I know that this post is somewhat old...but I just need to vent. I recently emailed Sony USA asking if the Hi-MDs will be compatible with Macs and their reply was no. Not even a ray of hope for the future. I am absolutely LIVID. And the possible reason of Sony being strickly a PC manufacturer is bologna *trying oh so hard not to curse like a sailor*. With the strides OSX has made in programming it would be exceedingly simple to write a compatible program - if I were a programmer I'd do it for people! lol. Furthermore - Sony would have nothing to lose in this venture. In any event, revenue would increase quite a bit if they supported the estranged Mac users! I have had my eyes on a Hi-MD ever since they have been announced and was giddy like a school girl for it's release! Now, I am bitter and surly and want to break something but instead I sit in a corner and mumble incoherently about injustice and unusual cruelty. My only hope right now is that someone will write a program that will allow it (come onnnn sourceforge!) Maybe I am just jumping the gun. Maybe, as someone posted earlier, that in the future they may support Macs, but as it stands right now, my opinion on Sony isn't very good: Sony is effing stupid.

Hello everyone, I am in the market for an MD recorder. I was interested in one since my friend let me borrow his to record one of my scoring sessions for class. Despite it being in mono because of the mic I was using, I was fairly impressed with the quality. I am in possession of a modest home recording studio for my music production business and I am interesting in doing my own SFX and foley for some of my projects and thought and MD would be a good venture to follow. I have seen a lot of people complaining about there not being a digital I/O on MDs. Would it possible to take a 1/8" male to 2 phono male plugs Y cable and plug them into an audio recorder such as the Tascam US-122? It's just a thought. I am too new to MDs to be certain that it would work. In theory it should work but I'm having a hell of a time finding the proper cables. I was looking at some of the newer models such as the MiniDisc Business Recorder MZ-B100 but it's a bit out of my price range. But if it's what would best suit my needs, I'd be willing to shell out for it. Any thougts or suggestions? Congrats on a great-looking and informative site! Clo
