Currently I am the dismayed owner of a Mz-N505.
No matter what I do, no matter what I reinstall/install again, I can't get this thing to record. Currently I have been trying to use Sonic Stage. I installed the driver, and the program. I imported the files. And I attempted to burn. For most of the time, it would freeze up at 95% on the first song, and repeatedly flash edit. The only way to turn it off was to remove the power source. Finally, after much toil, it was working. It made all the proper sounds, songs were transferred, everything was great. Until it finished. As I happily unplug the MD, awaiting my newfound library of songs, EDIT suddenly pops up again (I'm not connected to computer anymore). And it keeps flashing, and "attempting to edit". So I'm like ok, and let it run for a little bit. After a while I get fed up and am forced to remove power source. Once I plug it back in, loe and behold I see a blank cd. Thinking that maybe this was caused by premature unplugging, I try it again. Now, instead of even attempting to transfer, EDIT immediatly starts to flash. After about 10 seconds, all the songs that are supposed to be transferred disappear out of the MD window (right side), and I am soon greeted with a wonderful:
"Failed to authenticate (sp) device/media."
SonicStage then proceeds to percieve the device as 0.0 mb, and the player continues to flash EDIT. If I unplug, I am still faced with the blank MD msg. I have reinstalled the driver, the program, and still am faced with the same results. What can I do!??????
PS. I have tried this with multiple minidisks (all blank).
PSS. sorry about the length.
