check it out, i had the exact same problem and was told my m.d. was probibly fucked. turns out all it needed was a lens cleaning. so far so good. i was warned not to go ahead with self repair because i might actually screw up the lazer. it'd cost 170 (can.) to fix it. it took all of 30 seconds to get it up and running and the repair guy did'nt even charge me. nice. try that and good luck

i got a bad feeling . i've read a few posts about this. looks dire. say, does anybody know if anyone from the sony corp. actually cruze this board? might have some useful information you could share with the rest of us.

hey there everyone, i'm sharing the same problem as a post by 'nookie'. and this is totally frustrating. out of nowhere, my mz-n707 just stopped reading my discs. just like nookie's i placed the disc in just the other day and it kicked in just like it should and then...........nothing! the battery icon is there, even my preferance of sound icon is there. but it just keeps 'whirrring' along. i cant stop it, i can't play it. it basically has turned itself into a useless whirrring machine. please help. is it just a brain fart? is there something i'm just not doing? a button to be pressed? i talked to a tech guy breifly and he said it's probibly an issue with the lazer and could be a costly repair. if so SHAME ON YOU SONY! i've only had this thing a year and a few months. infact 2 months after warrenty! does this happen alot to you guys/gals?????
