Ok How can I get Winamp to output mp3 thru the optical out so I can input optical into my MD recorder?

I need help. I have an Audigy Platinum and it has optical out put. But It doesnt seem to work with Winamp. Anyone know of a plugin? Thanks

I have a newbie question. and I wasnt sure which topic to put this in. I have a Net MD but I always record thru an optical cable. ( either an audio cd or I burn an mp3 cd and use my brother's dvd player that can play the mp3 disc and output it thru the optical outport) my question is whether this method would provide better sound quality than going thru the pc using Sonic Stage or Netmd simple burner for cd-md recording. Thanks
