  1. ive been looking at getting a new setup to record concerts however i do have a budget if people had $500-550 US to spend on a recording setup (mic, preamp, minidisc etc), what would be the ideal setup. i mostly record in very loud clubs so it would need to handle loud volumes. the other condition is that the price must be for a new item not 2nd hand. thanks for your feedback
  2. as in at a concert which your not allowed to tape i was just wondering since people seem to recomend mic stands, but how often can you use them? can you only use them in places that allow taping?
  3. is it possible to use a mic stand discretely?
  4. how can you tell which is being overdriven?
  5. will this do the same as turning the recording level down via manual volume control? im just asking cause ive been recoding in v loud clubs and i get some distortion. ive been using the auto level setting, so im not sure if its the microphones fault or im recording too loud for the md.
  6. hey! ive had trouble converting my md's to cd i usually just plug it into my computer and use cool edit to record my md to wav. however my computer recently crashed and needed to be reformated since then everytime i try to transfer mds on to my computer they come out really distorted. mp3s and games play ok, but when i plug my md played into the input on my computer the sound which comes out of my computer is distorted. ive tried downloading updated drivers but they still dont work. i have a intel ® 82801 ba/bam ac'97 integrated audio controller, and the sound driver which came with my computer is an avance ac97 sound driver (tho im not sure if this was on my computer before or just was on a cd which came with my computer). PLEASE HELP thanks!
  7. yeah i had the sensitivity set to low the strange thing was the right channel was completly distorted and unlistenable, however the left channel was stil distorted but not too bad, thus i was able to save the recording by removing the right channel (using cool edit pro). since it seems that one microphone was alot more distorted from the other (i was using a sterio mic), i think it may be the microphones fault since it was cheap and not the minidsics fault.
  8. hey! ive had a sony mz-r55 for a couple of years now and ive recently become interested in taping concerts. it has a mic sensitivity switch and mic input. i bought one of those cheap "Stereo Lapel Microphone for Minidisc" off ebay and tried it out at a concert. however the concert was in a club and the volume was extremly loud. as a result the recording was unlistenable due to distortion. is this due to the cheap microphone? if i buy better quality mics, will i get rid of the distortion? or is it the recorders fault? thanks for your help guys!
