You can download SonicStage 2.0 from the website i noted. Then you can burn MDs to your heart's content.

MC11EL doesn't have group skip

Portal Player has a hi-fi pedigree?? Ugh. As if.

Another thing - I think this point is lost on ipod afficionados. Apple has focused on simplicity, ease of use, flexibility and features. These are all good things that should Sony should heed as well. However, Apple doesn't have any hi-fi pedigree. Sony simply makes the best of crap material....it can make low bit rates sound acceptable, whereas the sound quality from ipods with non-transcoded mp3s can often be left wanting.

So would that mean you think 64 kbps is acceptable for travelling as well? That is the conclusion I came to.

Is there a way of turning off the anti shock capability?

If you use a 2100 mah Ni-MH rechargeable, will this give more battery life than the standard Energizer etc alkaline? How about a 1300 mah Ni-MH?

I agree it would be good to get Atrac3plus at 128 When you say Hi-LP sucks, are you listening to a track encoded from CD to Hi-LP or a LP2 track encoded to Hi-LP. I find that my files which are from CD or MP3 which get encoded to Hi-LP are quite acceptable for portable use. Definitely not Hi-Fi, but when in public places, I can't get enough silence to appreciate the difference. Yes you will not get the same number of songs on a disc using LP2, compared to Hi-LP, but on a 1GB disc you will still get about 15hrs of LP2, which is much much more than on NetMD. And on a standard 80 min MD, you will get about 5 hrs on a disc.

I think the downside of getting the NH600 vs NH600D is that the NH600 doesn't have a remote port so you can't use a remote that you might own previously.

Are you able to get Windows Media Player to recognise OMG files like it does with mp3 files? ie can you add OMG files to your media library and create playlists from them?

Recording 4 cds onto one disc in SP!
sxc replied to Bananatree's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
If you have a massive quality loss, then it's not really SP....easier just to record in LP4 in the first place. -
I think I am going to buy a NH600D now, and then wait for what good top-end models come out. So far, I like the EH1 - Maybe I will used 600D for recording, and the EH1 for walking around. 24 hrs playback on Hi-LP - sounds good to me. Only bad thing is that it doesn't have the big jog pad of the NH900.

Probably not likely for Sharp / Kenwood to make a MP3 version of MD since they license the format from Sony and Sony controls the format.

Do a search on google. Invariably, you will be lead to www.driverguide.com You need to do a free registration there, but be very careful when you are registering. Driver Guide seems to be a site setup to get email addresses possibly for spam or adware, so make sure you read every prompt that you agree to. And use a dummy email address.

Were you successful with the install? I was able to install the SS 2.0 from Connect on a computer that never had SS on it before, and it was fully functional.
-
Try going to www.connect.com and you will get the SS 2.0 software. But I think maybe you need an additional driver file for SS 2.0 to recognise that you have a MS Walkman to transfer to. Not sure where you can get that from....

Atrac3 surprisingly bad in a decent test
sxc replied to rauer's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
I don't see many notes on the methodology of the testing. I don't think that this test can be taken as being too reliable. -
Oh...the minidisc.com.au section just dissappeared...so I am posting here hopefully minidisc.com.au will reply here too! I was wondering if there is any indication from Sony when Hi-MD will get to Australia?
