Lol. No, but i do spend alot of time camping during the summer. Infact i'm going camping this coming weekend up north. Damn cold but i'll be up there with some friends, so it'll be fun. But the one time i was hiking for 2 days and had my md player running almost constantly. Sacraficed the use of my flashlight for the AA batteries that were inside. The few hours of darkness were worth the many hours i got out of the batteries. I'm thinking an MD player might be the right choice. If i got a HDD player then i wouldn't be able to hang out here now would i? I'll see what else i find in my travels. Maybe i'll find something i like. Has anyone tried the A1000 and A3000? My god those things are horrible! The buttons are flush with the rest of the player. So when you go to use the functions on the outer edge of the buttons it becomes a pain in the ass to push them easily. I picked it up. Pushed the buttons and put it down immediately. But finding a DAP that i like around here seems to be impossible. I'm hoping that the stores are just low on stock from christmas. The source had a few flash players, the largest being 1GB. And that was it. Usually when i went in i remebered seeing ipods, irivers, and a few other HDD players. But none when i'm looking to maybe buy one!

Has anyone here tried the Sony NW-HD3? Would this be a good MD Player replacement? Sony Store near me sells them for $299 right now. And i got gift cards there for $170. So i wouldn't pay awhole lot in cash. And the RH710 is $175 right now. But i kinda like the compact size and long battery life in the NW-HD3. And 30hrs of battery life should last me even if i go camping for the week... And an external battery wouldn't be to complex to build if i ever felt i need it... Hmmm. Now that i think about it, that may have been the NW-HD1... In that case i might not be so keen on buying it... I still don't know, i hate DAP shopping on a budget. To many choices and not enough money.

The problem is that soild state mp3 players are all small capacity. And the media costs way to much when compared with MD. I like to carry all of my music with me. And that's what i love MD for! When i fill a disc, no problem! Buy a new one and add it to my collection. The only other option would be a large capacity MP3 player, 20GB or more. If i do get another MD it won't come to an end the same way. I would gaurd it with my life. lol. But it goes to show the quality of MD players. It took a beating and it's still running. It's running alittle rough, but it's still running... And it's not that i treated it carelessly, it's just that it was always with me. If i were to just leave it at home, or in my locker then it wouldn't have seen so many accidents. But it was always with me, so it was more likely to take a hit or fall. Has anyone else had the same problem with their jog wheel getting alittle sluggish? When i roll through the songs it seems that it doesn't respond to every click. More like every other click it switches songs. And i like the new MP3 compatability with the new MD players. One of the things i didn't like about MD was always having to convert to atrac. I wouldn't mind carrying a few extra discs around for quicker record times. And everytime someone new sees my MD player they ask, "what's that thing?" Out of 700 students at my school, i've only seen 2 other MD players... I'm not sure if i want to leave MD. The cheap media is very attractive. The players are inexpensive. They don't need charging (AA batteries). And the battery life is twice the length of HDD players. But the HDD players do have their ups. So right now i'm weighing my options...

Recently my beloved nhf800 has begun to show signs of it's well used life. The wheel is alittle chppy, but i can deal with it... The headphone jack makes some static sometimes and sometimes cuts out, but a quick nudge on the headphone plug gets it playin again. After 1 and a bit of a year it is beginning to show it's wear and tear. About 1500 Hours of music played. Replaced PCB and Battery terminal after falling from a shelf in my locker. Fallen down a flight of concrete stairs twice. Countless falls from my desk at school. Ripped out of my pockets by the headphones getting caught on stuff so many times. Crushed against walls, doors, raillings while in my pockets. The harsh winters and hot summers. Falling in snow. Almost dying from water and it has been everywhere i have been. Really, it was common to see me with MD player in my hand with headphones on everywhere i went. It was practically glued to me. But recently it has developed a new problem. Recording goes through and looks normal. But when i go to play the songs i've recorded it's just a blank file. These blank files have the artists, albums, etc... listed but have no audio. It's not the headphone jack because if i switch from a song i know that plays to a recently added song it takes about 10 seconds to load and then nothing plays. The play time is shown and artist and title scroll but i can't hear anything. Has anyone had a similar problem? Or is my MD player finally dead? This is my second MD player. My original being a N420D. I got hooked and have owned an MD player since. When Hi-MD came out i bought one immediately. If this player has died, i'm considering another Hi-MD player, or maybe a harddrive player.
