Why do my posts always get moved here? My topic has EVERYTHING to do with Hi-MD yet it gets buried in this forum! Back on the Hi-MD forum someone has a post asking about the remote port on the side of the NH600D? How does that relate directly to Hi-MD and mine doesn't?

I give up! I have been a minidisc user since it first came out. I loved the format and recording, ease of use, etc. for years. I had high hopes for the new format and a whopping 1gb on that small little disc so I bought a NH600D as soon as it was available. Converted an entire hi-md disc worth of tracks and ran into the first problem which I had with the NetMD format. A limitation on the characters in the track titles..still! I had it with this piece of Junk SonicStage and I've had it with Atrac! Let me simply drag and drop a native MP3 straight to this 1gb blank (if I could find some!) and play native on the unit. Sony would OWN the portable music market if they would allow that. 1gb blanks @ $3 a piece would fly off the shelves! But alas I am dreaming....I also have my NH600D for sale and I am looking for another format. Sorry Sony you blew it!

I created several Hi-MD's this weekend and one disc I had about 730 tracks when all of sudden the track titles and group names all starting showing "unknown" after track 730! This reminded me of the old MDLP character limitation that I understood since it was a retrofit of the original MD spec but Hi-MD is a whole new format. I can't believe that Sony's proprietary VTOC isn't dynamic! I was able to copy several more cd's but still the titles were unknown. The disc had about 23 mb available space left. I looked in the 600d manual and it only states the limitation of 255 groups on Hi-md.

Am I missing something? How do I create a playlist type function with the HI-MD? I have used SonicStage to creat a new "Album" and drag my tracks into it but the same tracks already on the disc are transferred again doubling the space. Is there not true support for a Playlist type unction?

Found about 10 Nh600's at the local Best Buy last night as well (Jacksonville, FL). They also had no blanks but interestingly enough they have a Sony colored 10 pack of 80 minute blanks that have a sticker on the front that says "13.5 hours per disc in Hi-MD mode". That tells me the were definelty prepared for a lack of supply of the 1gb's I am checking Walmart again this weekend since I saw the SKU slot last weekend.

I was at a SuperWalmart over the weekend in Florida and saw the slot on the shelf(empty) with the sku for the blank Hi-Md. The tag read Sony HiMd 3pk for $9.99. Of course they don't know when they will get them but were getting closer

I bought the nh600D at target but need more than the 1 blank that came with it. Any sightings of those being sold anywhere?

Add Jacksonville, FL to the Target sightings! I just bought the only one they had left.

The side where the headphones plug into the 600D shows a jack for a remote. Does this mean the really cool MZNH1 3 line remote may possibly work in this unit if it is sold separately?
