I try to make myself believe it's 80's retro, and that that's a good thing.

The R700 felt and looked like 400 (CAD). The new 800 is a chunkmiester. Thicker, less modular, and oddly vacant styling, i.e. no real lines that break up or organize the style. Does not feel like 400 dollars.

Sony has created the shittiest player ever!! I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. - I just picked up my NHF800, a warranty trade-in from an R700 (the generation before Netmd). The 800 has the crappiest plastic styling! I can't even believe that everything from the tacky blue plastic down to the coarse jog dial to the cheap CHEAP! grey plastic battery compartment "lid" in the back is so ugly! I want my old player back And the remote ISN'T backlit. grrrrr
