  1. Thanks for tht feedback! It appears that the tags got messed up when I loaded the MP3's. It had the artist from another mp3. The funny thing is that I would get the error but Sonic Stage would have them listed as imported. When I tried to see the propeties of the mp3, it would say that they're read only. I deleted these files from Sonic Stage and then I corrected the ID tags on the mp3's. I them imported them sucesfully! You were right on the monet about SS4.0 being finicky about the ID tags. Thanks very much for your help!
  2. Hi All, When I try do upload some mp3's I get an error saying there are not registered with Sonic Stage. This does not happen with all the mp3's that i upload. Any idea? Thanks
  3. Does anyone have any idea when they will be distributed in the US? Also, what color will be availble? I know they come in both, black and silver. Thanks!
  4. Hi All, Why is it when I go the the Sony US site and go to software updates, there is no download for Sonic Stage 4.0 for US models. I see Canada and Asia but no US. Has it been offically released for US models? Thanks

    MD Cleaning

Does anyone use the MD Lense Cleaner and Recording Head Cleaner? I'm have several (MD & Hi-Md) units and I'm wondering if this is a good practice to follow or is it really not advisable. Thanks for your help!
  6. I wonder if the new Connect software will allow you to convert from ATRACPlus to wav as SS 3.2 now does. I love using HI-MD for recordings and then convert them to WAV files Also, what about Simple Burner? Any one have any information on the above?
  7. Is SonicStage 3.2 officialy released from Sony? I went to their website and there is no mention of 3.2. Is this a beta release that's been tested? Also, Is this safe to use on the US verion of the software? I saw the images had Japanese charaters in the screen display. Thanks
  8. Has this ever happened to anyone? I recorded a live show and I tranfered the muisc from my new Sony RH10 to Sonic Stage 3.1. The transfer appears to go smooth. I then have Sonic convert it to wav and that's whwn things get sour. The wav that it creates is not complete! The original recording was 89 minutes and the wav in only 50. When I play the file (before wav conversion) thats in Sonic, it plays fine. I have to thank Mark's version for saving the day. I used his program to covert the file to wav and it worked perfectly! Does anyone know why Sonic would react this way? Has it happened to anyone else? Thanks
  9. Can someone explain what makes a recording a true Digital recording? I understand that when I record live music the sound is being captured by microphones that pass the signal to the MD which I assume the DA converter kicks in and saves the data digitally. Now, we can pass through to Sonic and make Wav files for recording. Great! When I try to record music via my minidisc that is from an optical or digital stream I get “No Copy Digital”. How is this any different? Was the original music source not recorded via analog microphones and converted to digital? Pardon my ignorance, but I’m really trying to understand the difference. I hope I’m asking this the right way. I really would appreciate an explanation is anyone care to spend the time. Thanks Again!
  10. Does anyone know if you can record the digital music channels from cable box using the coax digital output and feed it into a Minidisc? Is there SCM on the digital feed? Thanks for you help!
  11. I've been using my MN-NH1 for live recordings and they come out very well. The only downside is being able to see the limited display in low light conditions. I was thinking of buying the MZ-RH10 with its bright new display. My question: Is the RH10 as good in the reording dept. as the NH!? Does anyone know of any changes in this unit that would cause a recording to be of lessor quality of the two? Thanks
  12. What really sucks is that you first have to covert your recording to OMG and then the application will convert it to WAV. Too many steps and conversions processes may jeopardize my recording. Ideally, it would be great to take your recording (Line or Mic) and covert it to a WAV without the extra OMG baggage. I'm going to stick to real time transfer. At least the WAV will be as large as it needs to be without the 650 split limitation reported. What are the designers at SONY thinking? The WAV converter blocks digital transfers, why should they make it so hard to transfer an analog recording? I know I'm stating the obvious, but after the big hype and wait I'm very disappointed as the rest of you.
  13. I recently purchased a Home Deck with an optical output. Do you think it worth me taking some original recording that I transferred to my PC via the analog line-out on my Sony N-10 and passing them through to the PC via the optical method? If you have done this, is the sound improvement that noticeable that it's worth the effort? What's your opinion, I'd really like to know. Thanks George
  14. Does anyone know where I can buy (new or used) the Sony MXD-D400? If so please let me know. Thanks for you help! George
  15. I apologize if this topic has been asked before or beaten to death by others! I’m trying to get an understanding of how SCM works. Is it worth me pursuing the purchase of an MD Deck with an Optical out? I have recorded some live shows with Microphones. If I use the Optical out from a Home Deck and feed it into my PC with an Optical input, will the Deck prevent a digital transfer with SCMS? Or is this considered analog and will be transferred through the Optical output of the deck without any degradation in sound? Also, is it true that sound cards ignore the SCMS data they receive from their optical input, therefore bypassing the SCMS and allowing a true digital transfer? When does the SCMS kick in? I hope some of you pro’s out there can help clear this up! I really appreciate your help. Thanks George
  16. I forgot to ask this as a secondary question from my last post. Do you think it's possible for Sony to introduce HI MD discs greater than the current 1 Gig? Reason I ask is it would really nice to have a recording in PCM that can exceed the current 1 and 28 minutes. I know many tapers tape shows that run for at least 2 hours. The idea of having a lossless recording without having to change discs would be ideal. George
  17. Does anyone know if Sony has any plans on making HI-MD home Decks? It would be nice to have especially with an Optical output. The Net MD home decks never made it here in the US. I know they were available in the UK and Japan. I guess that would be asking too much from them as usual. Then they wonder why the Minidisc isn't picking up the pace in the US. George
  18. I currently have the Sony MZ-N10. Will I be able to use the unit with the new Sonic Stage and MD Simple Burner? Can I just install the driver from the old version onto the new version? I would like to be able to use both MZ-N10 and the HI MD MN-NH1. Thanks George
