  1. You can try to solder the ribbon back together, but most likely it won't work. The more logical option would be to replace the ribbon with new wires. In the picture it looks like two leads on the main CB. If you use a light, flexible wire it is possible. If the ribbon is attached directly to the recording head and will be moving around then you will have to make sure you use some type of wire that wan't cause much resistence or the head will not move. I have heard of using cheap headphone wire to do the trick on portable cd players. Otherwise the only way to fix it is to take it to a repair shop, usually costing more than is justifiable. Just don't use a singke core wire becouse it will wear and break. I have heard of the recording head ribbin breakng, especially when the record head is attached to the same carriage as the playback head. This causes the recording head ribbon stress while recording and during playback. Hopefully you can bypass ribbon with a good, super light , and flexible wire.
  2. O.K. I lied in the post above. I fixed the wrong format error for about 4 tracks worth of transferring. Now I get another error saying something about zero transfers. Go figure. Sonic Stage won't let me put my Rage on to a minidisc. So I have now decided to form a band called Rage Against The Sony, and write songs about bad software released by corporate America and distributed to unaware consumers.
  3. Sinic Stage 2.0 is just as bad. It crashes like a drunk driver on an icy autobon.
  4. Sonic Stage worked for about forty tracks of mp3 to MD converting, and then I got a wrong format error on every file (mp3,wav,wma,etc.) :wacky: I found a fix by accident. After uninstalling several times I gave up on mp3 to MD converting. So I tried to use Sonic Stage to apply a Rage Against The Machine CD to my Library and got another error saying that I needed to restore my system files and Sonic Stage will close and open a restore utility. I did the restore and now everything works. I can transfer mp3 again and I got RATM in my Library. I looked all over for the answer to the wrong format prob and I couldn't find a solution but I found alot of post with the same problem. So I apologise for repeating someone's solution. Thanks to all the other post that helped me along the way.
