  1. While the actual equipment recommendations are a bit dated, your wife may benefit from some of the distilled wisdom found at: transom.org The site is dedicated to broadcast journalism but recording techniques and strategy are discussed. There are a number of very interesting shows too. Check out the SCRABBLE piece - excellent!
  2. I didn't state my question accurately. The ME-67 connects to a K6 (not phantom) then to a NH900. It seems clear that the NH900 needs a male stereo plug but I don't know (and can't find) what the K6 requires - male or female XLR? Also, are "Competitive" (the apparent manufacturer) cables good or should I be looking for a "better" one? Thanks (again) - Steve
  3. Green newbie here planning to do some nature recording (birds mostly). I plan to purchase a Sony MZ-NH900, Senn ME-67, and Rycote Softie. I need a cable to connect the mic to the NH900. I'm not sure what to look for and need suggestions. I'm guessing female XLR to male mini - right? Stereo (ME-67 isn't) cable or not? Should I get more than one cable in different lengths? Is length a consideration or factor influencing the signal? Who makes good cables? If anyone has other suggestions I'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance. Steve
