Sure. I don't believe the SR50 supported remote LCD on the remote, but the button should work which will be an advantage.

Hi Guys! New here, but still have my trusty Sharp MD-SR50. I was thinking I should have gotten a remote for it years ago when I bought it and now having troubles finding one. But I can get my hands on a remote for a DR480, will that work with the SR50? Does anyone know where I could source a remote for the SR50? Are there any other remotes that will work with it? Cheers!
