  1. Thanks! I looked closely at the terminals and there was some gunk on one part of the connector. Cleaned that away and now its charging fine. Just wish I'd thought of asking before I went and bought another battery! Thanks again.
  2. I took my MZ-NH900 minidisc recorder out for the first time in while and found that the battery was dead. The unit worked fine off mains power but no battery charge showed on the display and removing the mains turned the unit off. I ordered a new battery (generic replacement for NH-10WM gumstick) and received this today. However, putting this in the machine makes no difference - still no battery power showing with or without mains power and no charging taking place after 30m attached to the mains. The old battery does not show any signs of leaking and I'm at a loss at what else to try. Could the battery circuit have somehow become broken? I'd be very grateful for any ideas.
  3. I've been away for a while so have only just tried the suggestions above. I have connected the MZ-NH900 to another PC with a fresh install of SonicStage and this works fine so it appears to be a PC not a minidisc problem, so that's good. I have tried reinstalling SonicStage on the PC that crashed but it gets to the last stage of the installation process (install Personal Audio = 100%) and then reports 'Installation process for SonicStage 3.1 has been terminated'. I have tried this several times after running the MDAC utility, deleting all SonicStage registry entries and disabling virus scanning software. Any other ideas on what could be causing the problem?
  4. Yes I tried that too, and have also tried upgrading to SonicStage 3.0 - but now shows error "cannot use this disc as an audio disc because it was initialised by a program other than SonicStage. Click Properties on the Device/Media panel and initialize the disc to use it as an audio disc." Not sure what it means by click Properties, but I ran the Initialize function within the Device/Media panel as well to no avail. The MZ-NH900 player show 'NO TRACK' on the display when not connected and SonicStage shows it as 0Mb free, 0Mb used. Unfortunately as this unit is new, this is the only Hi-Md disc I have so I can't test another.
  5. I was transferring tracks from a CD using MD Simple Burner and my PC crashed. Now when I try to use MD Simple Burner it reports 'Cannot continue because files on this disk are being used by another program'. I have tried formatting the disc using Sonic Stage but it has made no difference. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.
  6. I've been looking at prices for the Sony Hi-MD range over the past 2-3 days and it seems that Amazon have just dropped the price of, for example, the MX-NH700 from 150 to 120 GBP and other models similarly. Other vendors are still at the old price.
  7. I have a recently broken Sharp MD-MS722 minidisc recorder which I need to replace. The new Sony Hi-MD format looks interesting and I'm thinking of buying the MZ-NH700 model. My concern is whether this machine will play standard minidiscs recorded in 'long-play' mono format on the Sharp machine. I'm not sure if this format (which allowed 148m of mono recording on a 74m disc) was proprietary to Sharp or if Sony machines will play it. Anyone know? Thanks
