thanx bobt, no error messages - delete or record just freezes around 69% everytime it will still play my discs though - yay! ill try the battery thing... didnt realise it would take an hour to reset thanx too Avrin, i hope it is not the ribbin cable, i suspect that you may be right though i may stick to play only in preference to breaking it entirely by opening it up and fiddling!

good idea... already done! it 100% dry and has been for weeks and still doesnt work could it be a battery problem perhaps?
-
i think that it may have got a little wet but its showing absolutely no signs of life whatsoever ( does anyone have any advice on how i might get it working again? or should i just put it in the bin and go looking to buy a new one? thanx ~j

thankyou for taking the time to reply A440 I will try yet another full re-install and also disconnecting from the Internet and then disabling any security/antivirus/firewall programs that are running - i didnt realise that this might cause problems I had problems last time i tried to re-install though and was unable to remove/delete all of the directories listed in the instructions... what do i do when it says 'cant delete'? im starting to think its this laptop thats the problem... its been doing some funny things recently!

not sure if this a software issue or not but it keeps happening. SS and the unit freeze and the disc looses its format (and content)... SS says it cannot use the disc as it was formatted by another problem and the unit just asks format? yes/no how can i determine whether this is a software or hardware problem?

thanx kurisu, ive been doing them one by one for a while since i realised not doing so caused problems! the only way i can transfer my mp3s is to convert them to wav - problem solved i guess as no problems since i started this procedure... tis a pain in the arse though and they seem to take up more space
-
so i thought i was getting somewhere and managed to transfer approx 25 wav files (mp3 still would not work) or so i thought... SS suddenly stops and first says 'unable to transfer' then 'unable to find file to tranfer' i then unplug the unit from the laptop and it tell me 'unable to read/play file' 'reformat disc
-
thanx Matt, i had actually just done this (with the unit) when i read your post... i was actually getting somewhere to or so i thought and had managed to transfer 14 wav files and listen to them and everything! but all of a sudden the unit tells me its unable to open or play the files and i have to reformat it again... its behaviour like this that makes me think its the unit at fault and not the software

Using SS3.3 with XP SP2 and MZNH1... I have a dozen GB discs and numerous re-formatted old MD's filled with a wide variety of audio... i have just purchased a box of new blue discs and am really struggling to transfer any audio onto them using SS error messages im getting... 'transfers are not allowed' 'device/media is full' 'cannot use this disc because it was initialized by another program...' these messages come at different times, in different orders and with differnt types of files - there seems to be no consistency is this a software or a hardware problem? im seriously considering going and buying an ipod as my MZNH1 is useless to me unless i can tranfer audio files onto it
-
Im having this exact same problem and its driving me crazy... I havent disced anything for a while but have just acquired a box of shiny new blue hi-mds is Matt J's suggestion of converting the mp3 to wav the only way around this? (this has worked so far btw) i dont like all this converting earlier versions of SS didnt result in this problem... my mp3s are not corrupt, it must be something within SS that thinks they are
-
i just bought one and my they are sexy! as much as i liked the retro styling of the old black and red cases i think im converted to the pull apart design with the index card inside... anyone know where i can buy just the cases??
-
thankyou! its working now (and i cant and wouldnt want to try and stop it!) ... the next time it fails to recognize it i will try your method. in the past your method of 'and try again' has worked its just that sometimes it takes many many many times ~ J

hey guys, i am hoping someone might be able to help me all is well with my MNNH1 except for the fact that SonicStage refuses to recognize that the device/unit is connected... the thing that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt and i cant for the life of me figure out why... if it was mainly the former i wouldnt mind but its not... grrr does anyone have any idea at all as to what might might be causing this tempermental behaviour? ~ J
