  1. Sonicstage has finally convinced me to give up and get an iPod... I've had enough, it hasn't worked properly in months, and before it stopped talking to CDDB, it was buggy, slow and pedantic about copyrights anyway. So congratulations Sony, I would have considered the new Mp3 enabled network walkman, but for the fact it too uses CronicStage 2.3. I'll be getting a 20g iPod, and saying good-bye to 2 Minidsic walkman's and a BMW MINI minidisc headunit via Ebay. Thanks a lot to everyone who gave advice on here, it was well appreciated but I just don't have the time to babysit crap software through tech advice hell... Hasta luego, Nathan
  2. It's not worked since I upgraded to 2.3. Sonicstage and all related progs are set as exemptions in the firewall. Have registered with CDDB, but will double check that. Router reset sounds like the last resort! might try that last. Thanks for the suggestions!
  3. I am, still haveing problems.... SS 2.3 will not connect to CDDB. I haven't touched my Minidisc in 3 months because of this.
  4. Yes, I registered with CDDB each time I re-installed. I will check whether the firewalls are affecting it. I have a router firewall, but this was in effect when Sonicstage 1.5 was working with CDDB. Is the firewall in Windows SP2 an issue? thanks for the replies, Nathan
  5. I tried this over the weekend. removed everything, installed 1.5 from the original disk I had. (this didn't work with CDDB either!) updated to 2.3 and still no CDDB. I have run out of things to try. Any more suggestions before I buy the iPod?
  6. Will check the user account at home tonight, as far as I remember, it has full rights...
  7. Yes, although it's not very clear how far one should go (delete registry entries?) when you have a Vaio, like I do.
  8. Just to be certain, I un-installed everything and re-installed (from Connect Europe). Still no CDDB. Does anyone have any bright ideas? pleeeeeaaaasse1 It's been almost 4 months since I've been able to record a Minidisc. The end of the tether is in sight, and iPods are being eyed up.
  9. 90% sure Connect Europe, I followed the instructions on the FAQ. If i've got it from the wrong place, would that explain the CDDB problem?
  10. I've just been trawling through the myriad sony web pages trying to find who to talk to about Sonicstage 2.2 I still can't resolve my CDDB problem, see here Any UK members know who to call to resolve this? thanks in advance, Nathan
  11. Works with Windows media player v. 10 Not with Real Player v. 10
  12. I said SS 2.0 out of habit. I downloaded it only last night from connect website, so it must be the latest version I have (whatever number that is) I've tried playing with the proxy settings (tried all three) with no success. Unless anyone knows what server adress I can specify? Pleeeeease someone help, or I'm going to give up and get an iPod....
  13. I've just about reached the end of my tether! CDDB will not work at all with Sonicstage 2.0. I've followed the FAQ's and uninstalled everything Soncistage related, re-installed and still no joy. Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this?
  14. Problem: CDDB doesn't work after I updated to SS 2.0. So the FAQ's say that if you have a vaio with pre-loaded sony software (which I have), you shouldn't follow the "un-install everything" instructions. Which I didn't So now that CDDB doesn't work, I'm suspecting I should un-install and load iced tea's build (where is this available btw?). What does everyone else think? Also, I take it if I un-install, and reload, it will recognise all the music I've already saved? thanks in advance.
  15. Since upgrading to SS 2.0, cddb no longer works (I have tried changing the proxy settings) I am running Xp home on a Vaio, so according to the FAQ's:
  16. Hello, I've sifted throught thousands of posts, so forgive me, because I'm sure this must have been asked before! System: Vaio, XP, Sonicstage 1.55 (I know, got to update), Hard drive with virtual partition (c: windows + docs, d: music drive) Problem: The music drive is rapidly filling up, so if I install a new hard drive, can SS recognise a music drive across 2 drives? If so, do I just install the drive, then change the SS directory of where to store the music? Thanks in advance! Nathan
