Don't know about one, two and four, but I can tell you that, yes, the mz nh1 requires you to have the charging station to charge it. If that's a big problem, get the 900. You can have an external dry battery with the 900. Mine just got here in the mail, but I can't have it until christmas. Damnit.

I wouldn't worry too much about fragility. My bargain basement 600d, which is constructed entirely of plastic, can take hits well. I dropped it while walking, about 4 feet, and it didn't even skip. The only damage were a couple of minor scuff marks on the plastic.

Why do they DO that? why can't they just offer all the colors of the model in all the nations they sell it in? Damnit. But, no, financially, I couldn't justify paying the shipping costs for a black one from England. I like the black one, I really like it, but, money is tight, and it would be foolish to dole out for the black one. Oh well. campekenobi, I'm not new to the format, I have an 600d, but I want the ability to record, along with some other things, so I'm upgrading.

How would one go about getting an all black model? I mean, completely black, not just the face plate? Are they not available to us oil hungry Americans?

I recently bought a MZ-NH600. And I love the thing. The sheer volume of music you can get on one hi-md disc is incredible( i usually use Hi-lp, I experimented, and couldn't really tell that much of a difference from Hi-Sp), the sound quality is wonderful, placing music on an Md is fairly painless. Simple burner is just that, gloriourly simple, and Sonic Stage, while annoying in certain respects, has not caused me the trouble other have mentioned. Battery life is long, on one standard AA. The player is infinitely reliable. Plus, it's cool, in two respects: first, it's original. Second, people constantly come up and ask me what it is. I wish i could say I hadn't dropped it, but, one day as I was walking, the thing slipped out of my hand, bounced on the pavement, and into the dirt. I picked it up, dusted it off, and, excepting a small scratch on the plastic on the bottom left corner, it was fine. Plus, It didn't skip the whole time... I reached down to try and catch it, and so the headphoneswere not yanked out of the player. In short, though I will go with a higher end player next time, I love this little thing. And thanks to you guys, for helping me get through the "newbie" stage. EDIT: My only negative experience was with the connect music store. the unit came with a card loadied with 5 free downloads, but when i tryed to redeem them, it said it was a duplicate. Emailed sony, was given a pre-assembled resposne, tryed again, got same response, said "screw it" and gave up. To give you an idea of the capacity, i currently have a hi-md disc with 290 songs at Hi-Lp, and still have 350 mb of the Disk's 1024 mb left.

I figured it out! I was browsing a support faq, and found out that some of the files have to be installed to the C drive. I had my C drive disabled. As soon as I enabled it, the install worked. Thanks for the help.

I did that, still not having any luck. I installed windows xp service pack 2, all the other updates I could find, followed that guide to uninstall, but I still get an error message during install, both for the Cd rom and the downloaded Sonic stage and downloaded simple burner. Understand that I've never installed any of this before, I jsut got the MD player today, and whenever I go to install, or insert the cd rom I get the error message.

this is lame... I'm getting error messages on the downloaded Sonic stage and the downlaoded simple burner, too.

thanks man. Yea, I have cable. i'll post if it works out.

Ok, so I jsut got the Sony MZ-NH600D. I put the included disc that has Simple burner and sonic stage on it into my computer, but it said: "Install launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incovenience." Then it goes onto it's usual send a error report thing. I have Windows xp professional, and on the disc it says that it is Md Simple Burner Version 2.0, and says it is Sonic Stage version 2.0 U for MD. Help is much appreciated.

Thanx for the speedy and helpful replies. I believe I'm going to go with this model: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP....isc_HiMDWalkman I've found that a minidisc player will do everything I need it to do and more, both from your replies on here and messing with a couple of my friend's Sony md's.

I'm interested in the minidisc format. A couple questions: First, can I burn Mp3's directly from my computer to a minidisc? i plan to primarily use it in the same fashion as a Mp3 player. Does Hi-md make NetMd/MDLp obsolete? Thank you, sorry for the newb questions.
