  1. I am still in the process of getting the FEL's preamp. PayPal ignores Russian cardholders, so I have to learn making wire transfers from my card account. You ought to be a financial director if you need to buy stuff from Russia via the Internet:) I really hope this external preamp will fight the insufficient recording levels for me while keepin hiss out. To be continued...
  2. I've contacted FEL people and it looks like they are able to ship a mic preamp specially suited for line input recordings. Let's give it a try. I'll be back with a quick report on whether it improved it or not.
  3. Coming back for a while with this thread to report the results: I got the RM-MC35ELK (a remote) and it works perfectly with MZ-NH600. Every control (including hold function) + on-screen display for title/artist. Thank you guys!
  4. Thank you Mark, that's something I would call a 100% sure way. I've been reading though a number of sources yesterday and it looks like you are right. Some vendors (like FEL www.felmicamps.co.uk) offer suitable devices (e.g., minijack-minijack mic preamp) but without a battery inside. Meaning that using them on my reader's line in is no use. The same FEL promise to launch a battery operated model soon, they call it an MP3 Mic Preamp, which would be suitable for devices without a mic input. However, your comment about noise multiplication sounds a solid argument. Before giving up on ECM-MS907, I'll try to hunt for an affordable 2-channel mixer keeping that "noise issue" in mind. Thanks again. I'll be posting further experiences.
  5. I'll try this RM-MC33EL remote with NH600 and will let know. Thanks for a tip! As to hacking, I wonder if there are any service software downloads available on the Web. But it is also possible that hacking can be done with a special remote (dealer blacktool). More or less like it is done with DVD players' zone settings.
  6. Has been hunting for Sony ECM-MS907 all over the town and finally got it. As it could be expected, the record audibility is low even if I set the record level to maximum (30/30) on my Hi-MD recorder. Could anyone advice a pre-amp model to use with this mic? Something compact but strong enough to secure a good recording at 15/30? Thanks for any tips!
  7. Thanks for the answer! I thought it could be some "undocumented" port for support purposes. If so, this device can be hacked...
  8. Hello, This port is not covered at all in the manual. On your MZ-NH600 it is right next to the headphone one. What could it be? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
