  1. Kev - The 635A is a dynamic reporters mic that's been around forever... I like 'em cause they're practically indestructible. They have an XLR connector, which is why I'm wondering about running one to a stereo mic input. I thought about buying the Shure A96F Line Level Transformer instead of a preamp, but since the 635A is 150 ohms I would have to open it up and resolder it, something I am not too keen on. Complete specs for the mic are at http://www.electrovoice.com/electrovoice/p...98?Opendocument
  2. Hello all - I have been persuing the forums for about a week now, lots of incredibly useful tips here! However, I can't seem to find the answer to my specific situation: I am going to produce some radio features. To do this I will be conducting interviews using an Electrovoice 635A mic (just because I already have it) and a Sharp 702 minidisc recorder that will hopefully show up in the mail any day now. What I'm wondering: -If I want sound on both channels, will I need a "dual mono" cable? Can I accomplish this with Rat Shack cables/adapters or will I need to order one? Can anyone provide a link to EXACTLY the kind of cable I will need? -Is it likely that I will need a battery box/preamp of some kind? I have a cheapie "Boostaroo" headphone amp/splitter - would this work? (I have looked at the products from Reactive Sounds and Sound Professionals - they look great, but I am kind doing all this on the cheap... Church Audio has some good looking stuff at reasonable prices, but it doesn't appear that any of it takes XLR inputs.) Thanks for your help!
