Ahh this sucks! I am like on my 5th MD player, using it primarily for field recordings and interviews for research. There just is nothing that compares in terms of portability, sound quality, and battery life. And with the latest generation--ability to upload PCM recordings as WAV files--the MD is perfect. There are few digital music players/recorders that can compete with that. It would be great if they just continued the MD for specialized consumer market, very much like DAT recorders. Without all the DRM crap though--that SonicStage thing was an absolute MESS.

Thanks... but those options were not even available to me... after hours wasted, I went to the manual (which I should have looked at more closely) and realized that my menu mode was set to SIMPLE and those volume controls are only available in ADVANCED mode.

Finally got Simple Burner to recognize the drive AND the disk. (THere must be some conflicting program on my system (Windows XP) because if I reboot and MD Simple Burner is the first program I open, the drives and discs show up.) HOWEVER, new problem... the reading functionality test always fails and when trying to transfer, I get a recording failed message. This happens for both regular CDs and Nero CD images mounted to a virtual drive by Daemon tools. Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem. But using Windows XP, so those directions don't work. I tried uninstalling all other CD burning software, and reinstalling the CD driver software but am still getting the "Insert Audio CD" message. Can anyone help?

I followed the instructions in the manual for manually adjusting the recording volume: 1. Press PAUSE and slide RECORD 2. MENU 3. REC SETTINGS 4. The manual then says choose REC VOLUME, however the only menu option available to me at this point is REC MODE How do I access the volume controls? Is there something preventing this option from being available?
