That unfortunatly is so. I ordered one in june, they took the money out of my account, then told me it would be "a bit later than expected", i.e. August. So i got a refund. If i'm gonna be skint, i at least want to have the thing that's made me skint!!! 'Till then...

I never thought I'd see the day. I'm so emotional. . I have countless discs I've kept in a box of gigs my blues band has done, recorded on my old MZ-N1 that I know I'll want to reminiss over when I'm an old man, but always in the corner of my mind has been the nagging little voice going "throw them out. You know you aren't gonna have a working minidisc player when your 60". But now I can update the archive to the next media (not really imagining I'll have to put up with hard drives or cd's in 30 years time) on their journey. I'M SO HAPPY I'll part with the cash in a flash

Does this: Record from multiple source: USB-in / Mic-in / Analogue-in / Digital-in mean at the same time, and if so will it merge them or can it be used like a 4track (which would be ace) or, is it more like I suspect, just pointless marketing babble, 'cos let's face it, every net md (never mind himd) does this if it's just one sourse at a time. I need to know 'cos if it can be used as a 4track I'm gonna have to replace my NH1 after only owning it for 6 months! The idea is so appealing, sony should be thinking more for the musicians that buy and use mds when coming up with new iseas. Like a camera for f*cks sake, who needs that! If it can burn at 1400kb/ps for the wav recordings it can burn 5 hi sp 256kb/ps recordings at the same time! Surely. Link it to sound forge as well as sonic stage to upload it as a session and hey presto, you've got one hell of a product. Or am I just blue-sky dreaming!

I up-loaded them with sonic stage 2.0 that came with the mznh1, i have noticed the file converter when i upgraded (at the same time i got the wav converter), but it seemed more to do with atrac cd's or summit. I'll give it a go anyway, see what happens

I also use low sensitivity and manual gain, but that's mainly because that's what i did with my mzn1. Pesonally i'd have to test it quite a bit before recording anything important with an automatic gain control. I always thought that the mic high/low was just an input level control anyway, is this not so? Does it alter the way it records the data from the mic? And if so what differenciates a high/low sensitivity mic anyway? If anone has answers, my mic is a audio technica at822.

hi. I own a mznh1 teamed with an audio technica at822 stereo mic that i've used to record a couple of gigs in london and birmingham and have no complaints about the sound (it's a big improvement on my old mzn1, which was still fine and worked solidly for 18 months recording over 200 gigs without a single fuck up). Ii have no complaints about the up-load time (as long as it does it right, it can take as long as it likes, and it has so far [about 20 times]). The only complaint i have is with the fact that the wav converter does not recognise the affore-mentioned gigs that i up-loaded on the night i recorded them (only having two hi-md discs), or anything i uploaded before installing the tool. Does marcnet's program convert previously up-loaded wavs? The only reason i haven't tried it was 'cos sony are so anal and unstable in their sonic stage i didn't want anything to rock the boat, and if the sony wav converter didn't work (which it does fine on the things i've up-loaded since i installed the tool [only about 15 tracks]), i could moan at sony constantly 'till they gave me loads of free stuff! If it does i shall risk rocking the boat, even though audition has done the job (as it did with old faithfull mzn1) already in real time. I want to examine the difference for myself (being my own music) to decide which is best.
