I´ve recently bought a new Hi-Md recorder, Sony MZ-NH900 and tried some recording while playing with my band. The recordings were alright, but some strange clippings are heard when the drummer make a sudden sharp noise or the trombon go on to heavily. I suspect that is due to flaws in the automatic record level system? Is it prefered to use manual level settings?
What is more troublesome is that the machine on several occasions have hanged during the "data save" or "Writing to file system" processes. To beboot the machine i had to remove and replace the battery. This has only happened with 80 min standard discs so far. (Hi-Md not available in stores yet, but one was delivered with the player). Has anyone have similar troubles? How are these hang-ups avoided?
