  1. Thanks, interesting read. Suppose it's my bad for not searching harder. Pretty gutted, suppose for now I should leave the disc up on a shelf and not touch it just in case. Heck I'm interested in learning about the Legacy MD TOC cloning as that could be really helpful. I jsut hope that sony realises now that MD is slowly melting away that they should open the format up. I doubt it'll happen though. Still too much of the technology in use.
  2. Hey all, I recently recorded something important to me and as I picked up my HI-MD unit, to my dismay the battery door opened. Thus the screen went blank, and darkness fell upon the earth. The disc claims to be a blankdisc. It's a standard disc (80mins). Now my guess for this is that the MD stores the opening address of the begining of the music track, and when it stops recording it decides the ending address and then writes this to the TOC, along with a title plus anything else that needs to be set. So my guess is that by the MD lossing the power at this moment the data was never written to the TOC. So technically the recording is still on the disc just not given a proper address. Am I wrong and should I give up now? So would it be possible to basically write a TOC entry that states the whole disc is a track and then just browse through it at my lesiure seeing if I can find the section that has my recording on? If so, are there any tools availble to help do this? Am I wrong and stupid? Please tell me! Thanks

    Mz-nh900

Being a fan of minidiscs for a long time, and prefering MD over MP3 players, for christmas I was brought the MZ-NH900, as my old 707 was almost dead. (I got it for £150, $300 which in the UK is pretty cheap!) Anyway I'm now comfy with the system, I sat there on christmas day using the included 1GB minidisc to fill with the entire back catalogue of my favourite band (Linkin Park). I recorded at the Hi-SP (256kbps) as I'm a quality over quantity guy and was very impressed. Especially with all the sound options and the speed. Now this is my problem, Linkin Park's music varys in sound. You go one minute from being quiet, to the next being a full on blast. Now maybe I've missed an option somewhere, but it seems to me as if the mini disc tries to compensate and curve out the sound so that it isn't as big of a change. Now I know this isn't a new AVLS system as I have that turned off, is this a new option in SonicStage (2.3) or something like that? Just a bit baffled. Apart from that the only other niggles I have are the remote control being the otherway round compared to the 707, and the lack of availability of the 1GB discs here in the UK. Every sony store gives me different stories about them. Some saying they're just not availble in uk stores yet, and others saying that they're out of stock. I've held one in my hand, (before I had the system) so where are they? Oh well, anyway if anyone could shed some light on this! thanks!
  5. One thing guys, never get too worried if a recording is too quiet. Usually you can increase the volume afterwards, with little or no adverse effects (unless you get a hiss). Too lud and the recording is destroyed.
  6. Hey! - I'd like to say a massive thanks. Did this to my old Net MD and it worked fine *attempts to dance to the alarm tune* I used a Net MD NZ-707 Type-R (Blue!) with 1.4 however I hope to get a new Hi-MD soon
