  1. The "pause" function I have seen has only referred to momentary pause; not "resume" when you switch the player on again the next day. Could you give me some model numbers to check out. Sorry, but what is a PCDP ? thanks for the fast reply
  2. Hello I have a large collection of audio cassettes which I am transferring to MP3. Many of these are quite long talks (many sermons and other teaching classes) where there are no track-breaks or suitable places to put such breaks. One of the problems with MP3 files is that if you have a large file there seems to be no way to stop "playing" the file and "resume" from that spot. When playing the file on computer one can of course move the sliding bar with the mouse and get back to much the same place as before. Any suggestions, please. Are there MP3 players out there which will do this? I assume the same is true of WAV files thanks BTW I am a devoted mini-disc user, but have also started using an Edirol R-1 for off-air recordings, and for this tape-transfer work.
  3. Congratulation and thanks for such an article Yes, I LUV minidisc, and will use it as long as possible and still pray that Sony will repent and continue deleopment. Editing is so easy. But for my off-air recording I now use Edirol-R1 to mp3 and then edit on computer using MP3DirectCut (freeware). Edirol R1 uses Compactflash; later model R-09 uses SD Any one out there with any experience with the Korg MR1 HD machine? thanks
  4. in view of the discussion above, I suggest that the wording be changed to reflect the goodwill, research etc leading to the "no further MD releases" announcement, and our relief that Sony have turned the tap on again How about sayng "Fortunately Sony Australia are continuing to release MD, notwithstanding former reports that there were to be no more for Australia" I've orderd my RH1 from MiniDisc Australia Now we want Sony to produce some hiMD decks thanks for the wonderful service of the forum and minidisc.org
  5. and your alternative is ???
  6. Yes, please may it be an April Fools Day joke I did a google search for <"Miyazaki Kendo" sony> and found no entry ! I loved the April fools day joke a few year back where you concocted a MiniDisc player which looked like a Sony Clie (another abandoned product)! There is obviously a huge community of MD users out there ... any other manufactere would really look after them Thanks for this site
  7. service and repairs and spare parts is a big issue. I recently spent close to $400 having the Sony agent repair an MD/CD deck I'd like to be able to play my old reel-to-reel tapes, but where do you get spare parts (assuming the tapes are still playable ... probably suffering from print through so, should we stock-pile MDs, players and recorders whilst still around?
  8. Sony are woeful at PR, and champions at abandoning customers and great technolgy. They also don't make it easy for consumers to contact them. I've been e-mailing Sony Australia asking about release here of the MD direct MP3 models, and no reply Questions: 1 - how can we write to Sony begging them to keep MD? 2 - what medium do we transfer our existing MDs too? 3 - what do we use for recording now? 4 - should we stock-pile discs and recorders while they are available?
