It's not the program that's restarting. It's my PC. But yeah, I'm thinking it must be the unit too. I'll have to get them to replace it. Thanks everyone for trying to help!

This may be a stupid question... How do I record with digital-in or mic-in?? I don't think mine has that... but could be wrong. No, it's not a hub. It's plugged right into the back of the PC. Our printer is connected via USB and we've had no trouble with that. Yes, I've tried various USB ports. The one I'm using now is the one I usually use for the digital camera. Yes, the power supply is definitely enough. The only thing I haven't tried is a different USB cable. I don't have another with the same connection on it as this one.

Thanks Yes, I have Win XP professional, with SP2. I uninstalled my previous software (according to the sticky topic in this forum) and installed version 2.3... checked again for viruses and run ad-aware, etc etc. I've tried other USB ports. I don't think I have another USB cable like this one to try though. So now that I've done all that... I've gotten as many as 18 tracks at once before the reboot. But sometimes it's still as few as 2 or 3. I could probably live with the inconvenience of a reboot every 15 or so songs if I had to... but I'd really rather not! The test at my friend's place wasn't entirely successful either, but it was a completely different system that didn't quite meet min requirements. I just got frequent errors saying to check whether the disc was full. (it wasn't!) When I cleared that, it would record a few more songs, and then the error would pop up again. Could it just be that there is something defective with the recording mechanism in my unit? It appears to play just perfectly. Bonnie

Hello! I need some help! I just got a new Sony NetMD, MZ-N420D. I'm having a terrible time trying to transfer music to it. I've tried SonicStage 2.0, MD Simple Burner, and Realplayer. I've tried transferring directly from music CD's and from the hard drive. No matter what, the same thing happens... It will transfer one or two songs with no problem, then the computer will suddenly reboot! No warning, no error messages. It's like someone pushed the 'reset' button. I'm running Win XP pro, Pentuim4 3.2ghz... it's a brand new computer, so I just can't imagine that the problem is that there's not enough resources. And if it's a software problem, isn't it a bit strange that it is causing the PC to just reboot like that? It almost sounds like there's not enough power-supply, but that's new and more than adequate too. I'm off to a friend's place to see if the same thing happens there. That will at least tell me if the problem is with my PC, or if something with my MD unit might be the cause. I think I'll try using only realplayer there too, and forget all the sony software. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Any ideas about what could be the problem? Thanks!!! Bonnie
