  1. Before I exchange mine for the second time ... Did you have your problem right from the start? Or did it start only after a week, month ... ? I plan on doing a thourough check in the shop, to make sure this time the unit is ok! Of course if the problem only occurs after a while, this is no use ...
  2. I called the number I found on the Sony Belgium Service webpage this afternoon and the guy said they were unaware of any of such problems with the mz-nh900. According to them it's a very stable piece of equipment. As I said, I at least got the change to exchange mine, so i no longer have the "stop button issue". About the new problem I'm experiencing with the one I have now (not switching off automatically after ten seconds), my dealer offers to exchange it once more. I'm a bit suspicious though, 'cause I still think it's not a coincidence that two units with serial so close to each other have problems. The guy from Sony I spoke to also gave me the number of a service center, but he assured me it would be free of charge. But fact is, I don't want them messing about with a brand new md-player ...
  3. I bought my MZ-NH900 two weeks ago and had the exact same problem with the stop button on the unit (not with the one on the remote): not stopping, skipping to one of the next songs, ... I exchanged it for a new one. The stop button on this one works fine, but now I have another problem ... The unit does not automatically switch off after 10 seconds (when using with batteries) or 3 minutes (when using with adapter). The display remains on ... I can only turn it off by removing the disk! I will exchange it again, but I'm afraid the entire batch might be faulty. The two serials numbers I have are 5035002 and 5003505. I bought the unit in Ghent (Belgium ...) Somewhere on this forum I read something about entering the setup register ... Maybe the function to switch off automatically can be solved by changing a setup entry?
  4. Several years ago I bought the MDS JE520 MD deck from Sony. Only recently I noticed something of which I'm not sure it is normal. The analog out from my 520 is connected to the tape in from my amplifier (Grundig V330). When the power of the 520 is switched on and I turn the volume of my amplifier up to the max. level (without an md playing of course) I very distinctively hear noise generated by the JE520. When I press the rec button of the md (again without an actual input signal - I don't want to blow up my speakers) the noise even gets a tiny bit louder (md on analog rec.). When I switch off the power of the md deck (while the volume level remains at max), the noise dissapears. I have tried this on all of the line in's of the amp (tape, video-aux, tuner, cd, ...) each time i get the same noise level. I have detached all other devices and did the test again ... the same result. When I do the same test with my cd-player, my tape deck, etc. no noise is audible. I also did the test without any device connect to the amp and I hear no noise (so it can't be the amplifier causing the noise). Of course I do get noise on the record player line in, but I think that is normal, right? In fact, the noise I get from the md is comparable to the noise on the record player line in (only slightly less loud). Since I don't have an optical line in on my amp, I can only do the test by using the analog line out of the md. When I actually play an md with the amp at a normal level, I can't hear the noise but it must be there. So, basically my question is, is it normal that the je520 generates a certain level of noise, audible when the volume of the amp is at max level? Maybe my md has always done that? Who has a je520 and can do the same test? If this is not a common phenomena, what could be causing this? Thanks in advance for your inputs!
