  1. no, it's not recording those last two minutes ... I was told it could be the threadwheel, but I don't know how to find if this is the case.
  2. okay ... someone told me this may be a threadwheel problem. Is there any place that I can find a pic /diagram of the insides, to see where things should be; e.g., the laser, if it's shifted, that threadwheel and the little plastic thingy attached to it, etc. Excuse me if I'm butchering terms here; i don't know what I'm doing.
  3. Ever hear of an MT831 recording about 72 minutes of a disc and then stopping, always? Is this fixable, or just a bad sign? If it helps, the exact model number is MD-MT831W(GL), which I'm guessing means it's a world model released in Asia-Pacific. I did a search and only found one similar question like this raised, for a sony model, with no replies... Oh, and hello. I'm new to this board, and I wish I wasn't. I had one of the first MT831s in 1999, bought in Tokyo and used lovingly in the US as a journalist and music-lover for more than three years. That is, until I moved to Cambodia. Then it stopped reading discs, and then I just figured it died, probably from dust and whatnot. So when I got back last year, I traded it for pretty much beans, figuring someone could cannibalize it for parts or something. Searching on this board for two hours today, I'm betting it was fixable. Anyway. live and learn.
