I forgot to thank to Kurisu for his help. I installed SP2 and everything is OK now. I am using WinXP SP2 and SS 2.3. Everything is working properly. Thanks a lot!
-
Ok Kurisu. I asked and there is no problem if I install the SP2. ¿Can you give the link to download it manually? Thanks a lot!
-
ok. I take your recomendations. I will contact you on monday, next week, after I speak to my network admin. Thanks and have a nice weekend!

OK. Here are the answers: 1. Confirmed. I have SP1 installed 2. The Automatic Updates feature is being managed by my network administrator as I could confirm in the microsoft page (http://protect.microsoft.com/security/protect/WSA/en/control.asp). Question1: Why should my Network Admin want to avoid the system to install SP2? Question2: Can I cause a system crash if I install SP2 by my own? Question3: Could you please give me the link to download SP2 manually? 3. I looked at my console of the Symantec Antivirus and I could see that all the options are locked. I can't disable it. Maybe if I look in the startup file of windows to block it before it starts? (Is there any startup file like in older versions of windows?) Thanks again!

Information Update (as proposed in the rules) OS Windows XP SP: 1 (can you help to be sure about this? I have some updates that say (SP2)) Updates: Automatic Updates Activated (from Microsoft Site) (All of the SW licenses are in order) HW COMPUTER Vendor: Toshiba Model: Satellite A60 CPU: P4, 3.07GHz RAM: 512 MB Hi-Md Vendor: Sony Model: MZ-NH700 SonicStage Version: 2.1 (the cd that came with my Hi-Md unit) Antivirus Vendor: Symantec Version: 9.0.0.338 Engine: 1.4.0.11 Virus Definition File: 02/09/2005 rev. 32 Important Notes Note 1 I tried installing the OpenMG Secure Module alone (same application that is launched by the SS installer) and it raises the following error: OpengMG Secure Module Error: "Error 1606. Could not access network location 0." I thought it may be caused by the Antivirus, so I went to the Symantec homepage and searched for the message. They say that in some cases it occurs and that they recommend unistalling and reinstalling. And here is where Note 2 comes: Note 2 My notebook is property of my job, so the antivirus starts with windows and it seems I can't stop it (it doesn't appear as a process at the windows task bar). Is not that easy for me to uninstall and reinstall it. So I would prefer to stop the antivirus instead of unistalling it while I test the OpenMG Secure Module installation. Note 3 Maybe the most important. How can I be sure that I don't have SP2 installed in my computer (windows automatic updates are activated here). If I don't have it, Is it safe to install? I read in the microsoft page that you must make a backup of all your "important" files... But like I said in note 2 this is the computer I use in my job, so, I think that 99% of the files here are important. Note 4 The MDSB is not working either. It raises the following error: MD Simple Burner: A fatal error has occurred. To correct this error, reboot your PC. If rebooting does not correct this problem, reinstall the software. Of course the first time I tried rebooting, but the problem continued. For the things I have tried, and the information I told you above I think I must focus my solution in the installation of the OpenMG Secure Module. There is the problem and the SS Installer fails to give me an advice of this problem. It only says "OpenMG Secure Module Installation Successful". (Maybe you should consider this issue in the "Mdcf Sonicstage 2.3 & Mdsb Installer Project") That's all I can say for now. I won't give up and when I have the answer I' ll share it with you.

I've read them before. I followed them to uninstall and reinstall (erasing the registry, directories and following all the advices there). Like I told you before Kurisu, I tried everything I know... The first time I installed SS and for two months it worked properly. The problem began last week without installing any new software nor changing the registry files. I have also read in other forums and the problem is common, but none of the answers found there were useful to help in this case. Thanks all the way folks,

I can't reinstall or update the SS or the MDSB because: 1. The program I have in my pc (SS 2.1) doesn't open and it says: "Cannot find OpenMG Secure Module" 2. I have downloaded and installed the secure patch (related to OpenMG programs) from Microsoft Windows Update. 3. I have downloaded the upgrade to SS 2.3 from connect. But when i execute de file it does the following: 3.1: Previous version of SS, Uninstall?: OK 3.2: That's all folks.... It erases my old SS and installs nothing! 3.3: So, after upgrading I don't have any version of SS installed... 4. I try to reinstall SS 2.1 from the original CD and it reinstalls perfectly (al least the system says that). But when i try to use SS the message "Cannot find OpenMG Secure Module" appears (although while the SS installer shows the message "Installing OpenMG Secure" and id doesn't raise any kind of error message) Please believe me: if it had not tried everything I know ,I would not be bothering you in this forum. Please... help!

Just to say that I have all the licences, all the microsoft patches, a brand new Toshiba Satellite Notebook and guess what.... Sonic Stage still doesn't work!!!

I could download the file. Thanks, it was only problem of my internet connection. I fixed it and I could downloaded it without troubles. Now my problem is that when I try to install it, the system prompts: "The target software for this module is not installed." I think that when I installed the first upgrade with the file I downloaded from http://www.connect.com/download_cookie.html it erased all traces of my older version of SS and did not upgrade to anything. Could that file caused the problem? Do you have any report about that? Thanks again kurisu!

kurisu: First of all thanks for your help. I've been trying to download the file but I can't. It stops downloading after downloading the 3% or 4% of the complete file. Is there another link to download it? Thanks again.

Hello! I have the NH700 since xmas and everything was fine but yesterday after a win xp crash (blue screen) my MD are not more recogized by SS. I was using SS 2.1 spanish version. Reading some of the other posts of this forum now I know that any version previous than the SS 2.3 was crap. So, I followed one of the links in the posts to download the 2.3 version of the SonicStage. After installing it I can't find any exe file to start the application, although the SonicStage Installer informed tha the the software was successfully installed. What am I doing wrong? Thanks a lot!
