I know this thread is dead but i am having the same problem. Their may ba a problem with both of our computers but this seems to be a pretty common problem. The real problem is sonys lack of standard software instead opting to force people to use their bloated slow and generally difficult to use software. Atrac is a good format if all you want is to cram as much on to a disc as possible and then listen to 45 hours of tinny, am radio quality sound. I'd much rather use the disc's 1 gig capacity to hold less, decent sounding, music. atrac should be an option, and i am still waiting for the MP3 hack to come out for Hi-MD players.
