Well, I read through all of it... I own a MZ-nh900. I quote myself (from another topic) >> On my home-installed Windows XP PRO SP2 machine I get the "Updating database" error, and nothing more (Obviously, I tried all the install/uninstall/registry fixes I found on this forum). The funny thing is Sonicstage, installed from original CD and updated through the web installer, works flawlessly on my brother's "almost clean" XP HOME laptop WITHOUT SP2. And, even funnier, SS worked on my machine a couple of months ago when I first got an Hi-Md, a MZ-NH700.<< My system runs XP SP2 regularly updated It's an Intel PIII-S 1400Mhz ASUS Cusl2-c m/b 512mb KINGSTON PC133 SDRAM Matrox g550 32mb ddr d/h video SB Live! And, moreover, I have to add that Simple Burner works OK, file transfer to hi-md works OK. Only SS is causing trouble with my system. I think it's a software related problem, but I don't have codec packs installed. I'm just using the ReClock filter to play some movies, but it's not currently set as the preferred DX renderer. I use Nero (6.3) as burning software; Nod32 as anti-virus software. Well, up to you. And thanks a lot...
