Is there a way to run a diagnostics test on Sony minidisc recorders without taking them fully apart and being a complete techy? The service manuals are a little more technical than I am, but trying to diagnose some problems with the unit without tearing it all apart. Thanks.

Are there any sites out there with help repairing your minidisc models. I have a pair of MZ r700's that have shorts in the headphone jack. Seems like it's a common problem. Also one of my models has a power short that sometimes shuts down when using battery but not the power cord. Thanks for any suggestions.

Anyone have ideas on how to fix headphone jacks. I have a pair of Sony MZ-r700's that have shorts in the headphone out. You have to push down slightly on the jack with the headphone in to get any sound. I've heard of this problem on many of the used units posted on Ebay and I'm wondering if there's an easy fix by opening it up or something? Thanks. Secondly I have another unit that works fine with the adapter, but is now iffy with batteries. Shutting down suddenly when running on battery supply. Any thoughts?
