Sonicstage 3.4 Debuts With Stunning New Functionality
rronaldson replied to Christopher's topic in News
I've downloaded the 3.4 installer but it can't retrieve the installation files at the moment ...... oops forget it ...... seems to be working OK now. -
$50 !! Ouch. I'm sure that the shop price will be much more expensive here in the UK as always seems to be the case. We do have a Sony shop here but they seem to be just selling the latest televisions and such like. Not much, well not any, minidisc on general sale in the area apart from blank discs. Ipod and mp3 players seem to have killed it off. Anyway I'm committed to the ebay purchases now which are considerably less than $50. Both sellers have good feedback so I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for your interest Stephan.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but where can I buy an extra LIP-4WM lithium-ion battery used in Sony MD recorders? I'm really looking for UK source. Reg Ronaldson UK

Thanks Kevin. I've now managed to do this with Sonicstage 2.3. Am I right in thinking that you can't do a straight CD to MD transfer with SS? Reg

I have a Sony MZ-NH1 Minidisc Recorder but find I can't use the MD Simple Burner or SonicStage software supplied to record from CDs on my PC to the Sony MD recorder in SP mode. Is there any other software available which can do what I want? I want to be able to play the minidiscs back on a pre-MDLP player. I know I can do a CD to MD recording from my hi-fi CD player but using the computer makes it so much quicker and easier to transfer Title/Track information to the MD. I am a real beginner in all this so any help would be appreciated. Reg

Thanks. Yes I found I could pull off the ends to reveal "plugs". Being new to this I was rather afraid of damaging them. I assume you are meant to replace the "covers" when the lead is not in use. I'd say they were easy to lose. This is my first contact with optical connections so I'm a bit wary.

Thanks. I managed to find a picture of the Sony cable and see that it is a standard mini-plug. The manual doesn't make it clear at all.

This is probably a silly question but how do you use an optical cable? I have an optical cable supplied with my new MZ-NH1 but I can't see how you use it. The plugs at each end are not identical. One is long like a jack plug but is all plastic. The other is short and stubby with some metal tabs on the side but the end of that is all plastic as well. Never come across these before. I don't have any other optical output equipped equipment(!).

Sorry don't know if it's my post you are replying to. My NH1 was also shipped with an optical cable but I have nothing else optical output equipped. No Radio Shack around here in the UK.

Just bought one of these MD recorders and notice that the line-in is optical. I was hoping to record directly from my Hi-Fi but the handbook says I need a special lead ie RK-G129. Can't find out much about these on the web and dealers advertising them seem to be in the US. Would appreciate any advice on this. Thanks.

I've just bought an MZ-NH1 but isn't the line-in an optical connection? The handbook says that an analogue-digital cable ie RK-G129/G136 is required. Can't find anything about these on the web.
