Inserted the battery correctly and everythuing is working fine now. In my defence I am used to machines where the battery will only fit in if it is inserted correctly, and I also didn't expect the unit to operate on "phantom" power via the USB lead from the computer - I thought I had already charged it. Great machine though, especially for £70!

OK, having investigated this further I think I may have had the battery inserted the wrong way round. D'oh!

I was one of the lucky few who got "upgraded" by amazon.co.uk to the NH1. Initially I was absolutely delighted with it - who wouldn't be for £69.99? However I can't get the thing to work properly. I'm reluctant to send it back to Amazon as I'm not convinced they will send me a replacement, so I'm hoping that I am just doing something wrong. Basically the unit seems to work perfectly when connected to a computer via the USB or when it sits it the charger cradle. On it's own however, nothing happens. Pressing any of the buttons on the machine itself or on the remote ilicits no response. Any ideas? Having bought my first MD unit in 1997, I thought now was an ideal time to upgrade to HiMD, but I'm not having much fun with it at the moment.
