Yes, I have tried to reset and then go to the main menu and reformat and it still does not work. And sonic does not see the player at all. Thanks Stuge for you help.

Hey all, I am new here and this is my first post. As you can tell from the topic I am having some memory issues. When I turn on my 505 I get a memory error. I have tried numerous times to format with no success. IT just says format for a split second then the quits. I can go to the advanced menu and scoll to look at the firmware and this is what it shows. 1. 2.512mb 3. 4.1.00 The player is still recognized in windows xp but when I try to install the new firmware it will go through all three steps and then gives me the error of "there is not disk in the drive. please insert a disk into the drive" I am at my witts end and I think this player is doomed.
