Sold my RH1 a while back leaving me an EH70 to play through my collection.. shouldn't have done that. But it seems inevitable for me to part way from MD in it's entirety. Looking for a buyer for a total of 117 MDs, most recorded on once. I have one condition though: this is a "take all", not parting out individual requests for specific discs. Most have slip cases and the remaining that don't are in a separate case that fits 5 MDs. Will also include a giant Maxell filing case as well as all unused portions of blank labels. Since I sold my RH1 a while back, the music contained on these discs aren't transferrable via SonicStage. But you already knew that.

I'm also throwing in my EH70. The green label on the front has all but worn off but the NiCd gumstix battery still holds a very good charge. It includes an external AA battery pack and white remote (RM-MC38EL), original pouch, and AC charger. All other details I might've missed will be edited in later.

Unless you throw in your MD into the dryer that has puts out giant magnetic fields, then no, I don't think it damages the data integrity on the disc itself.

Something to do with the way magneto-optical technology works, which MD employs.

Wasn't there an obscure thread around here about someone leaving a minidisc in a car on a hot day and finding out their music being wiped clean or something?

Lately, I've been reripping some of my CD collection to MD at a Hi-SP rate versus LP2. Seems like at the start of each song, a loud pop/crackle can be heard right before the tunes start pouring into the speakers/headphonics. Is this normal? I've checked the original rip and they lacked any audio defects so I suspect there's a flaw in the encoding process. On second attempt though, the problem goes away.

Anyway, is there a fix to this rather rare occurrence?

And another thing completely unrelated: "fragmentation".

If you transfer a compilation to a fresh MD, delete the first song (because of what happened above), and retransfer it, the track gets placed AFTER the compilation. Imagine listening to first song end and the track heads moving back a long ways to read from the second song. Ridiculous!

It's time for me to say goodbye to MiniDisc as converting/transfering music to MD has become less ideal than flash-based storage. I'm not completely departing though.. I'll still have my EH70 around plus some odd 100+ MDs to nostalgic purposes. With that, I'm giving up my last unit for sale.
