I've noticed on my RH1 that when being charged via the AC wall current it DOES show "CHARGE--MIN LEFT" but via USB it does not. Either way it still seems to get a full charge each time, but via AC seems to give more info. And I didn't even read the manual!

With regards to recording quality and preservation, I personally think Hi-MD has any hard drive-based recorder out there beat by a mile. First, Linear PCM is pristine audio to any audiophile ear and secondly, I wouln't trust my "TREASURED" recordings for storage on a hard drive. Hard drives are unstable, problematic and not as durable as a removable blank Hi-MD! Be aware

Yeah, mine feels the same. The buttons are "firm". Awesome device though. I guess we should feel good about Sony's MZ-RH1 production consistency!

Yeah, maybe the mic's faulty. First, make sure it's inserted all the way into the jack and give it a little twist for contact purposes. Then try another microphone. If those don't work, the bad news is that your unit may need to be serviced
