I think you can drag them to the order you want once they're in the library in SonicStage, there's no need to create a particular order playlist. Also using the CD tracknumber field will force an order on transfer to any of your ATRAC devices. Experiment, nothing's permanent (except DRM, grrr) regards

This may be a longwinded process but I think that if you could rip the CD as a cue and wave file combination using EAC (Google Exact Audio Copy), the key combination [alt+F7] this would then produce a single uninterrupted wave file which you could then encode to mp3.

The original destination was an internally mounted SATA hard drive, this was the destination that threw up the error. Redirecting the backup to an externally USB hub connected hard disc was successful. Odd ...

I've just tried to backup my library as a matter of course and the above error pops up. The destination had 186GB free, the Backup tool reported ~52GB required. This happened twice until I specified a different destination (USB enclosure hard drive). Any ideas, like what does error 0x2002 actually mean?

Thank you Richyhu and Ishiyoshi San (or even Sama) I am now able to burn ATRAC CDs with version 4.2. Where would we be without such dedication? The misplaced marker and audio from the previous track problems still persist though. Nadolig Llawen i chi gyd and a very happy Christmas to all from Wales

Some more information about SS4.0-4.2 failing to burn ATRAC CDs. Leaving the computer to its own devices for 20-30 minutes, then closing SS I'm now getting an error message"cannot transfer track 'Untitled'" after the progress counter reaches 69%. There are no untitled tracks present in my library, could this be a pointer? I'm due to take delivery of an MZ-RH1 in the next week but have had to downgrade back to an off-line full install of SS3.4 (courtesey of yourselves) will this version function with the MZ-RH1 Anxious of Wales ....

I've had similar problems with CP4.0, I went through the recommended routine of uninstalling CP4.0 in the Software FAQ sticky and downgraded to SS3.4. Fortunately I didn't have any purchased music in the library but before uninstalling CP4.0, I did backup the library contents. SS3.4 is not without its problems but I couldn't get CP4.0 to burn ATRAC CDs. SS3.4 is much more stable in this respect I think. Regards

I've had serious problems burning this type of CD, SonicStage just hangs before actually burning the CD. Then I discovered that burning individual episodes (55minutes) of a drama in 4 parts worked slightly better. Then to crown it all, SS refused to burn the final episode, reporting that the transfer count had been exceeded, these were tracks that I'd imported without DRM. My Library details of the tracks reported no restrictions but they just wouldn't transfer. I've had to downgrade to SS3.4 losing the contents of My Library in the process. Fortunately, I hadn't purchased any music and the remainder of the contents ae backed up in wave form. How on earth do Sony expect to compete with I-T**es when SS is so flakey. Thank goodness for MCF's policy of hosting a complete download of SS3.4 , so far the downgrade has down what SS4CP refused to do. Angry of Wales

I've received this reply from Sony Connect this week concerning this problem Thank you for your patience. Much to our regret we must inform you that there is no solution available yet. But your issue has already been forwarded to the responsible department for furhter investigation as other users have the same problems. We will inform you as soon as possible. We are sorry for any disappointment this may cause. Kind regards, The CONNECT team I pointed out that if this problem exists with the ATRAC3plus encoder in Sonic Stage, then it would affect products very early in their life cycle such as the hard disc devices as well as the more mature products. I live in hope ...

Just to confirm the above findings, I also am having problems with encoding introducing gaps and beginning and end of tracks corruption. I agree that this causes great problems for me as I like to record radio drama and use CD track marks for easy navigation, then import to SonicStage. Presumably this also affects the ATRAC HD and memory stick based devices. If so this will affect products that are early in their life cycle. This doesn't bode well for SonicStage when it's up against I-T**es. Will also email my concern to Sony. Grrrr!

I think you need some recordable media in the drive before you can start to create a compilation, I'm away from my machine at work at present. If you load a pre-recorded CD into it, can you rip the tracks?

Using a European MD home deck in North America
chris_caudy replied to Pete F's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
I don't think the frequency difference (50-60Hz) will cause any significant effects. I'd be extremely surprised if the deck used the mains frequency for any sort of reference. I don't have a service manual for the MDS-Jb940 but I'd hazard a guess that only the mains transformer and possibly any mains input filtering would be the difference between a UK and a USA model. Incidentally the UK now operates a 230v 50Hz mains supply, the voltage was dropped from 240v some years ago. -
Hi guys, I'd recorded a 2½ hour drama directly into my audio editor with the intention of adding track marks and titles before rendering to a 'cue' file and loading it via Daemontools to import it into SS3.4 as a pseudo CD. The import went well (ATRAC 352kB advanced lossless), creating a single album in My Library. I then proceeded to transfer this to the above Net-MD @LP2 rate. The tracks converted and transferred up to a total time of 2h 14m (33 tracks) onto a standard TDK 80m disc. Then SS3.4 politely informed me that the destination media was full. Checking the media properties in the Transfer to MD window revealed the correct amount of remaining time, and a second transfer session of the remaining tracks completed normally. Any suggestions?

If you browse to the minidisc manuals page at minidisc.org, I think you'll find that the ERASE TRACKS option on page 29 of the scanned manual is what you need. You can initialize a disc by using the 'Erase all tracks' option.
