  1. I've just done this after suggestions in this post. However, I can't read Kanji, so using the application is a bit hit and miss. Does your altered installer result in an English language install, or is it just the configSS.ini language tweak that I've already done? I know how to add English support into the installer, but not the app itself.
  2. That's me home now and I've tried the 3.4 Japanese version to much success, thanks for the suggestion!! So, this is a Digital Restrictions Management gone wrong issue then...surprise surprise. Crazy, it's the only PC it's ever been hooked up to... Thanks again!! (for anyone finding this via a search with similar issues, I followed information at the following links in order to force the Japanese version to install: editing configSS.ini and enabling Japanese language support in windows, finally a regedit to change the SoundStage region)
  3. Thanks for the info. When you say re-initialize, does that entail actually resetting the walkman and therefore losing all of the tracks? Last time it took 3 days of 24/7 transferring to get the first batch of music on; losing the lot and starting again really isn't an option. The PC in question is in fact the original PC used; I've just removed the software at some point in the last year. If the Japanese version might help, can someone suggest a particular version to try and where I might get it? Cheers, Fraser.
  4. Hi, I'm having problems with a Pocket VAIO, model number VGF-AP1L. It's a friends and I helped her set it up about a year ago before she disappeared on an around-the-world tour. She's back for a flying visit and would like me to add some new CDs to it for her. However, we are getting error messages stating: The PC I originally used no longer has the SonicStage software installed. We don't have the install media as at the time of purchase the MP3 update was available online and it was essentially useless. I no longer have the download, so what I'm trying to say here is that I have no idea which version of SoundStage was used. Can anyone tell me of a suitable version of SoundStage we can use? Time is limited, normally I'd tinker away but I've only got a day or so to do this and tonights efforts haven't gotten very far. Ideally, there would be an upgrade path so that we could use the latest version. Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed in Sony in this. Their site has no provision for obtaining older versions and, it's IE5.5 only! It's down to communities like this to support them and that's not what I'd expect from a multinational company that usually values it's image. It's taken me six hours to get and try out versions 3.4 and 3.3 from this site. The offical 3.3 installer auto-updates from the net to 3.4, cool technology but not really a useful idea!! Thanks for hosting the 3.3 standalone, that came in handy (even though it has the same problem!) Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks in advance, Fraser.
