A friend of mine used to do interviews for the radio, and of course she was given a microphone and a MD-player to do it. Also, very often I see them being used at concerts, this really big control panel (dont know whats the proper term) for mixing the live music, and on top always some tiny MD-Player.

thanks tekdroid, i hereby close this thread since I guess the problem is too difficult in the first place, I dont want any of you wasting time conducting life cycle analysis of various portable music devices.

Hej folks, I know this is a somewhat nerdy post, but hear me out. Yesterday I took a look at my NH1 cardboard box and I found a list of environmental beneficial NH1-things, like lead-free soldering, no PVC in cables, low energy consumption, and some other stuff I dont remember. I do care about these things, and a lot of my friends, who I often try convince of Mds merits, do too. So does anyone know how good - environmental wise - HI-Md is in comparison to Ipod and his brothers and sisters? I guess the biggest point is energy consumption, so any numbers like X W/hours listening? Thanks beforehand.

What a neat little system...i can totally understand, but i guess most folks out there dont get the idea at all, that some people like to be forced to give every record the chance it deserves

Just wanted to add another name on the list of users that rarely uses his NH1 for recording. I just have the impression that all the HD-players are kind of crappy. Plus, I have to admit, it's this post adolescence idea of separating from the rest . I actually get quiet annoyed when riding the train and seeing every second person with the white Ipod-phones probably listening to one of the worst 5 GB collection of music on earth.

Hi there, i was just wondering why MD is best for recording. Is it simply the way the players are made or is there a general advantage between recording on Md or recording on a harddrive. Posed differently, could it be (technically) that tomorrow a HD-Recorder comes out which is as good?

Hej together, I am going to a lot of concerts these days, plus I am jamming myselve, so I was thinking I should get some Hifi plugs for my ears. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to get? PS: I Do know that this is completely off topic, but people here seem so resourceful...

I'd say this means that you have to think of food in order to exist, which in turn would probably mean that this forum doesn't exist, since none of its users thinks of food = exists. Then again, music might be considered brainfood....

that would be two scandinavian bands tiger tunes - absolutely worthless compared to important books Torpedo - anticlockwise both very good, saw tiger tunes live some days ago, one of the best shows I've ever been to

Seems like my worries were unnecessary, thanks a lot

Hi together, I've searched the forums quite a bit without finding an answer, so I guess i am entitled to ask this easy question: Will I be able (once my himd unit arrives) to put, lets say, 20 records I have in SS on a Himd, delete them in SS, get another 20 records from Cd to the computer and put them on the same Md (all by using SS). I know about having to convert mp3s (mz-Nh1) I am just worried about this rumor that once you delete a track in SS, it will be gone on the md as well. Thanks, Kai

Thanks a bunch, made up my mind, the NH1 is ordered

You have a point there, probably best to preserve everything on a few packed CDs/DVDs
-
So in the future, changing the format from Hi-Md to whatever will not be much easier than changing from conventional to Hi-Md now, right? Please tell me that it's not like that, i'd really like to stay with Mds!

Hi folks, my idea is to buy a Hi-Md player (Sony Mz-NH1) as a decission to store a lot of my music on minidisc this includes music that I only have on my computer, not as a CD. Now I read rumors, that I can not upload attrac/mp3/whatever music files from the Hi-MD to the PC, at least not on more than one PC. Is this true, e.g. in 20 years from now, when I will have some superfast Quantum-Computer, and decide that finally the Hi-MD time is over, will I be able to copy all my music on the computer or not? Thanks, Kai
