  1. Just a few detail questions: 1) Can you upload tracks by "drag and drop" or is it a laborious task in real time? 2) Once uploaded, I assume it is possible to convert tracks to other formats (eg. wav, mp3) and burn them to a CD? 3) Can tracks be downloaded back to minidisc? Can this be done by "drag and drop"? What about downloading back to a legacy minidisc (for playback on my old component unit)?
  2. That's excellent! Finally, I see a reason to stay with the format and update to a new unit. A unit with the MZ-RH1's capabilities been a long time coming - what a shame it wasn't available 5 years ago!
  3. I read that you can upload your analogue "live" recordings. I assume that means any analogue recordings? What happens if you try ro upload digital recordings that were made via an optical cable?
  4. Hi there, Just wanted to know if there are any MD units available nowadays that will allow upload of old standard MD tracks to a PC for transfer to other formats or for recomplilation. It's frustrating to have all my old MD recordings "stuck" in the old format. Thanks in advance.
  5. So, let me get this straight... With this new unit I can finally upload all my old SD recordings. Or can I? Will it allow me to upload music that was originally copied from a CD? Then once uploaded to my pc - what can I do with the music? Can I convert it to mp3?, wav?, burn it to a CD?, put it back onto SD minidisc?
  6. I have an original MD component deck and player only walkman. I'd only upgrade to a new HiMD if it was: 1) fully backwards compatible 2) could upload songs off original MD discs onto a computer hard-drive 3) could edit songs and song titles on the computer 4) could download songs back to a minidisc in all MD formats including the original SP (for compatibility with my "old" component deck) 5) could drag and drop onto MDs from a computer with no laborious software shuffling. 6) have I missed anything? Why do I think that's not going to happen?
  7. Thanks for the info. My component unit (model MDS-JE330) has an optical in only so that's not going to be of much use. What a shame Sony didn't think a little further ahead with the MD format. It was a format with great potential that has never been fully realised and now seems destined to fade away.
  8. Hi, I am a long time fan of MD. I went from Dolby C HX Pro cassette decks to MD in the nineties and never looked back. I have a MD hi-fi component unit and a playback only walkman and have really enjoyed them. However in this day and age of "drag and drop" digital data I am tired of having to record songs in realtime and would like to be able to "drag and drop" songs onto an MD. Are there any new units that allow "drag and drop" with SP so that I could still have compatibility with my existing gear? Also, some of my music is only on minidisc. Do any of the new units allow upload of music to a computer harddrive? If MD becomes obsolete I'd hate to have to transfer my MD music to a future format by analogue recording. Thanks in advance.
