oh yeah i made sure it was the 40 gig...i just placed my order...kinda nervous on them receiving my payment since they don't give out confirmation codes. Did you ask them when it should be shipped to you in your e-mail? How soon did you receive an email back from them? *edit* oh nevermind, I just received a confirmation email..and then I emailed them back asking what's the estimated shipping date. I really like the credit card holder feature, that's awesome.

omgg i've had my Vaio pocket for only 3 days and it already froze on me! The player froze on me when i was fast forwarding a song and then when it didn't stop fast forwarding, i decided to stop the song and then turn the player off....in the process of turning off...IT FREEZES!!! So now on the screen it says "Switching Power Off"...and i tried turning it off and on and i pressed every button...STILL FROZEN!! I didn't know that it was possible to reset the machine by poking a paperclip through the hole on the bottom of the machine...i just hope the player isn't like damaged now. This better not happen again, i'll be really upset. OH and does anyone know how to delete a certain song from a playlist or delete the entire playlist? I accidentally added 2 of the same song on the playlist and want to get rid of one. Thank you!

When you said to run SonicStage 3.1 in Japanese with Microsoft AppLocale, did you mean for me to d/l the japanese version of SonicStage or just run the regular English version? Also when I run the AppLocale, I'm a little lost on how to work it. Do I select "Launch an application"? And then if I select that, what do I put under "the application for which you apply Applocale"? and what goes under "arguments"? so sorry for these questions..thank so much for you help again!

Hi Ishi, yeah i'm at the process of transfering music onto my system and I'm just a little confused on how you got the japanese/chinese font to work. when i copy and paste the song names and titles under the song properties, i just get question marks..will these songs names show up on the vaio pocket still? Please let me know b/c i'm a little confused. Also I want to try to convert some of my songs to ATRAC..which program do you use to do that? i only want to do this to see hear the sound quality and to maybe try out the lyrics view... thank you again!

wooohooo i finally got my pocket vaio today, i'm sooo excited. i just opened it and am now charging it...didn't get to play around with it yet. it is pretty small, smaller than what i expected it to be...but it's a little heavier. I'm gonna install the software now, let's hope i know how to install the new firmware.

So i still didn't get an email from ecost but i checked the tracking info number through ecost and my scheduled delivery date is tomorrow! Didn't expect it to come so soon, don't think I'll be home to receive it which sucks.

Okay yeah so I still didn't get an e-mail with a UPS tracking number, but when I log in on ECost and go to my order status and click on the tracking information number, it leads me to a UPS tracking page and says that it was checked in in Memphis, Tennessee today at 1:59pm. I chose UPS ground as well. I find it weird that I still never got an email about it...I just hope this is the right product and right tracking number for me.

Heyyy Joe I'm just as excited as you! I probably ordered the Pocket Vaio around the same time as you from Ecost...so hopefully we should be receiving it around the same time. Let me know when you receieve yours! I'm hoping someone will be at my house to sign off for it when they deliver it. Did you receive a tracking number through email yet cause I don't think i did.

okay so i went to SonyStyle today to hopefully check out the Pocket Vaio myself but it was nowhere..so i finally asked the worker there and he said that it has been discontinued b/c a newer model will be out. He was being kinda shady and rude though and I felt like I had to pry answered out of him. He said he doesn't know what the new version will be called but he said that it might come out in a few months (how can he not know what it looks like if it's supposed to come out in a few months)..yeah so I don't know know if he's being truthful or not. Also I asked him what new features the new model will have and he said he doesn't really know but he "hears" it might be able to play videos. So if this is really true..i don't know...it sounds tempting to wait and see if a new one does come out. But the price won't be as good i'm sure... One more thing, has anyone bought anything from ECOST before? Is the Sony Vaio up for grabs a totally unopened, unrefurbished model? I don't want a refurbished or a return product b/c their return policy isn't too good. Someone please answer me before I place my order...thank you!!

Thanks so much Ishi for your input, the player sounds so great to me! What a bummer though, I can't find it on ECOST at all..so i guess SonyStyle it is. A few more questions (i'm so sorry again).. 1. Are the earphone wires (remote attached to the earphone) really really long? How do you like the Sony earphones that come with it? How does it sound to you (enough bass)? 2. I'm a little confused on the difference between the "flat" and "thumb" settings of the G-sense pad. What's the difference besides depending on the size of your fingers? Do you have to press down on the buttons or something? 3. Is there an unlimited amount of playlists you can make on the player? 4. Any possibility of games on it? 5. Do the album arts for the Japanese (international albums) come with the ID3 tags often? Or do I have to manually find the album art and assign it under the song? 6. Is it possible to convert some songs to ATRAC format while leaving other songs in MP3? Or do all of the songs have to be the same format? 7. This may be a stupid question but is there a sound quality difference between an ATRAC song and an MP3? I'm not too familiar with ATRAC (dealt with apple's mp3s all my life) and if they don't have any difference in sound and can take up less space then the ATRAC should be better right? I guess the only hassle is converting all of the songs to ATRAC? 8. I'm just scared that when I buy it, I'm going to receive a defective item or that I won't like it (but i find that highly unlikely)...and I've read their return policy but am confused by it. Do they give full refunds back? 9. Any possibilty of another update with the firmware any time soon? Hi Ishi, I joined the forum to find out more about the Sony Vaio Player because I can't really find information on it from someone who actually owns it...my ipod is on it's last thread (or wire) and am willing to try something new. I've heard about the Sony Vaio Pocket player and want to find out more about it. I was just hoping if I can ask you questions about it before I decide to buy it. I'm really sorry for the amount of questions i'm asking you. It's because I've read a lot of mixed reviews about this player (CNET, Amazon) and i'm just skeptical. 1. Are there any problems at all that you have encountered ever since you have purchased it (whether they are minor or major)? I've read that the software that came with it was the big problem, or that it's difficult to use. 2. Is it true that you can view the lyrics of the songs on it (after downloading the updated firmware)? Because this is one of the features that is really attracting me to this player. 3. I listen to a lot of international songs (japanese, chinese, korean, etc.), do the ID3 tags work with these as well? If not, is it easy to manually input/type them in yourself? 4. I've read that it is possible to buy this player now for $250...can you tell me where? I've only seen them for $299 at SonyStyle. 5. Is there a Japanese import version available in the states? Is there a big difference between the Japanese version and the US version? 6. Do the songs skip at all if you shake it or if you go jogging/running with it? 7. Why is this player so cheap? $299 for a 40gb? I feel like there's a catch or something. 8. Is it possible to make playlists on this player? I think this is such a beautiful player (definitely after seeing your pictures), and i am just about sold on this product...i just don't want to regret it after I buy it.
